In 1983, the KINDLER FOUNDATION TRUST FUND in the Library of Congress was established to honor cellist Hans Kindler, founder and fi rst director of the National Symphony Orchestra, through concert presentations and commissioning of new works. The audio-visual equipment and Steinway concert grand piano in the Coolidge Auditorium was endowed in part by the IRA AND LEONORE GERSHWIN FUND in the Library of Congress.
