Only the love between Adelina and Violetta that made me almost cry. They achieved their biggest success in the UK with " Midas Touch ", which made 8, and "Headlines", a 16 hit earlier the same year. In any case, this is a really well-written fantasy series, and one that I'll be thinking about for a long time. By working with the other Daggers, she regains her lost humanity. While it was foreshadowed a tiny bit at the end of The Rose Society, I still felt a little thrown off when this element came into play - and plot wise it did feel a little messy. Adelina's nightmares contain a lot of frightening imagery. I'm so glad Marie Lu maintained that to the end. Maeve is so going to strike again. There was once a time when darkness shrouded the world, and the darkness had a queen. Do you know what joining the Daggers would do? Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. Something that only Elites can see. Lu knows how to deliver a powerful ending that is equal parts dark and light. As dedicated readers already know, some of the best and most innovative stories on the shelves come from the constantly evolving realm of Lots of battles or epicness? It's quietly sad. It brightens until it overwhelms every other star in the sky, brightens until it seems to touch the ground, and then the glow is gone, and in its place is a girl. Would she redeem herself? But that was only the beginning, and then it came to the middle and then end where I was left "wanting to cry" but literally couldn't let go of the tears. Get to know the area. They make a deal with Adelina in which she and the Roses travel to the portal of the gods to return their powers. How long ago that had been. Lu ties us to her pain and suffering, so that we want her to succeed and find happiness even as she causes so much destruction. Despite the fact that we saw Adelina change from an insecure girl who just wanted to be loved to a tyrannical, cruel woman, I never really hated or disliked her. Some characters I know in depth and some characters I forget exist until Marie Lu mentions them which might be about once every 50 pages. Old wounds The Midnight Star Writer She did one of the most selfless acts of all time. Marie Lu has stolen my nighttime. But that was only the beginning, and then it came to the middle and then end where I was left "wanting to cry" but literally couldn't let go of the tears. I spoiled myself about the entire book, and i couldn't be more happier that i did. But after reading three books, I've realized that while she's got imagination on her side, Marie Lu is simply not a good writer. But I truly appreciated how Marie Lu concluded this magnificent journey. View all 31 comments. Until the very end he loves her, even in death. It might be used as a springboard for a discussion of the use and abuse of political power. I had a hunch then that this was going to be her downfall, and I've never guessed wrong. She's a cruel queen; she makes the laws very lenient for the marked, but harsh to the point of death for the unmarked. Two people who were in constant battle with inner demons. The death toll creeps up and all lives lost hit me hard. Ecstasy of Whodini. The band continued on to concerts in San Antonio and Little Rock. Characters with complexities, with evolving relationships and most significantly—people worth caring about. In her heart, she is doing what she thinks is right, but she is not naive or misguided. Which is why it ended up taking three whole painstaking months to finally get this jig over with. But dammit, if Six of Crows can develop three realistic, individual fandom-worthy pairings in two books, then The Young Elites can do it in three. Adelina and Violetta It's the third and final book, yet I am still not sure how I feel about these two. The Midnight Star Reviews Bad writing, that's what I tell you. It was supposed to be such a strong and significant act, and its supposed-ness was exactly what made it devoid of significance. That night. The blackjack tables are on the second floor in which you walk up a wide cool staircase. The climax is all about them. She's an antihero, a villain in this series. Sign In Don't have an account? I bet Raffaele is trying to control Enzo but he struggles. It wasn't what I expected, that's for sure. I can't say much about the other characters only because I've never really liked them. The Rose Society was actually the very first book I reviewed. I understand the familial love, truly I do. What will you do, when you face yourself? When it came it was well worth the wait as it was juicy and flavorful. And it's not fair leaving Magiano in this limbo state. The rest of the dynamic casts gets its due, too, as they engage in a battle in which the fate of their world hangs in the balance. That's okay. The ending crept up on me and I knew it was going to happen. It just upsets me and I hate how I disliked this because I have been so eager for this and so excited to read it, but then I get this. Adelina meets the Moritas and sees the dead body of Violetta and begins to cry. Adelina, Enzo, Raffaele and even Teren, they all suffered so much. And then those very same characters took a nosedive right into flatland here. There is only one way that this book could end with variations , and it could not involve a cookie-cutter perfect HEA. Learn the incredible history of the Mickelson Trail and what makes this trail so unique. The gods have also had a negative effect on the environment such as sea animals being beached. They achieved their biggest success in the UK with " Midas Touch ", which made 8, and "Headlines", a 16 hit earlier the same year. It was shorter than Rose Society and much more fast-paced, which I appreciated. Epic, magical fantasy like a "Game of Thrones" for tweens. The Midnight Star Read Online I also felt like maybe there should have been a little bit more to it. Others say that she was once a wicked queen, a worker of illusions, a girl who brought darkness across the lands. When it came it was well worth the wait as it was juicy and flavorful. And thus they live on. All the Books! I fell in love with a cute thief always looking out for Adelina. There's nothing about Raffaele that I don't like or didn't like. It just didn't make sense to me, like at all! As the elites get closer to the portal, their powers and the negative effects of their powers increase. Whispers keep haunting her, and nightmares keep keeping her up at night. About Marie Lu.

5.0-6.0 The Lost Gate Card, Orson Scott 5.8 Danny North knew from early childhood that his family was different, and that he was different from them. While his cousins were learning how to create the things that commoners called fairies, ghosts, golems, trolls, werewolves, and other such miracles that were the heritage of the North family, Danny worried that he would never show a talent, never form an outself. He grew up in the rambling old house, filled with dozens of cousins, and aunts and uncles, all ruled by his father. Their home was isolated in the mountains of western Virginia, far from town, far from schools, far from other people. There are many secrets in the House, and many rules that Danny must follow. There is a secret library with only a few dozen books, and none of them in English — but Danny and his cousins are expected to become fluent in the language of the books. While Danny's cousins are free to create magic whenever they like, they must never do it where outsiders might see. Unfortunately, there are some secrets kept from Danny as well. And that will lead to disaster for the North family. Great end to a great series!By B. J. NearyThe final book of Marie's Lu's The Young Elites did not disappoint. I loved the world building and characters as they race against the clock to help themselves from the devastating effects of their powers. There is so much more time spent on the characters and I enjoyed the depth Lu delves into Teren, Rafaele, Lucent, Enzo and Violetta. As always I appreciated Magiano's joyful heartfelt influence with Adelina since she really tried to listen to him as the voices drove her crazy and forced her evil forward again and again. I enjoyed finding out more about the gods and folktales that ruled their worlds. I could not put down this novel and I will not soon forget the Roses, The Daggers, and Young Elites!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. i love the authors style and how dark this series isBy kyle sanchezthis book has gotten me so emotionally drained and excited and just dumbfounded.
