At Roshe we love dance and theatre arts. In fact, itÊs our passionpassion! We have been successfully training students for the business and as just a hobby for over 666060 yearsyears. The Arts is a disciplined environment and although we take the training of all the students very seriously and employ the highest quality teachersteachers, we do not sway far from why the pupils are here⁄..for fun end enjoyment. Roshe is an exciting school with always something going on. We are being trusted with the training of your children and you deserve the best. We have 3 ISTD Examiners at the school and all our staff are qualified in their fields. Many of them have also had, or still have, a very successful performing career. We believe that we offer the best training in the area, we have an outstanding proven track record of success. All of this has enabled us to earn an unrivalled reputation in the industry for our training and standards and made us one of the foremost Performing Arts Schools in the Country. Many former pupils have gone on to achieve places at the top Dances Colleges in the Country and are dancing professionally around the world. Many others have also won places at the top Universities, gone on to teach and quite a number opened their own dancing schools. Whatever their ambition they will become part of the Roshe family and we will strive to give the very best that we can; entering them for exams when they are ready (not making them wait for the entire class); give them plenty of performing opportunities and instil in them a sense of pride, discipline and confidence If you would like your child to commence at Roshe we need the online registration completed and the one-off registration fee of £35/Child. Once we receive the form your child will be registered, and we will send you out a Bill and further information for the forthcoming term. We also hold stock of all the dance uniform required and can send out a uniform leaflet if required. The Principal and founder, Mrs Rosemary Woodd ARAD, FISTDFISTD, is a Major Examiner for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTDISTDISTD) and is supported by fully qualified staff, three of which are also examiners for the ISTD. We are also proud to have regular visiting teachers including present and former members of the Royal Ballet Company and those that have danced professionally for many years. Children attend classes from all over the South of England and can start from the age of 3. Classes include; Ballet (ISTD & RAD), Modern, Tap, Jazz, Greek, Musical Theatre, Irish, Pointe and Contemporary. Roshe are one of the few schools that also offer classes and examinations to Advanced 2 level which enables us have a large senior section of the school. Roshe are proud of their success at placing so many Students at the top Dance Colleges and Schools in the country and therefore having so many go on to have careers in the Entertainment industry, performing with some the top Dance Companies, in West End shows and performing all over the World. Roshe has never lost its main drive, which is to try and instil in every pupil a sense of pride, discipline and confidence in themselves. Many children come to dancing as just a hobby, others want to make it their future career. Whatever their ambition every pupil is given the same high quality training to prepare them for the future. Classes for younger pupils who are beginning their training are available in Felbridge or Crawley. Crawley Branch pupils are then able to move across to the main school in Felbridge (East Grinstead) where more opportunities are available, and pupils can experience a wider variety of choice and training. It is always our goal that whilst being taught in a disciplined environment a huge focus is placed on fun and enjoyment. We want every pupil, young and old, to achieve their true potential and at the same time have a wonderful dancing experience. If I don’t dance I will die!’ Ever found yourself saying this? Now to the reality of the dance world! Unfortunately, dance is not like other subjects where hard work = dream job. It takes dedication, an open mind, flexibility, adaptability and a thick skin to survive the dance world. Few people are able to sustain a career doing one area, and variety is more stimulating and gives a sustainable income. Dancers live what we call a portfolio career.     A Boy, His Life, And Growing Up In Glen Rock, New Jersey From 1945 to 1963 by David A. Lamken A compilation of breezy, not literary, e-mails written to the Class of 1963 over a twenty-one year period ending in 2018. Introduction – My childhood hometown is Glen Rock, New Jersey, and is situated 22 miles northwest of New York City’s Time Square. It covers 2.7 square miles and lies in the foothills of the Goffle Mountains. Glen Rock is home to a community of about 10,000 people (or at least it was when I resided there). The Borough of Glen Rock consists of a wonderful, two-block long downtown area with two other smaller shopping venues located at its outer borders, three elementary schools, a Catholic school, and a junior-senior high school. There were no school buses back then and everyone walked to school and no one seemed to mind. There are also parks, playgrounds, a wonderful brook, and even a community pool in which we all fully occupied ourselves. Although I have not lived there for the last 45 years, I have been writing my classmates and relating to them what I remember about my childhood experiences. In no discernable order, I have tried to recall the various youthful activities I was engaged in from my pre-school years through high school, and though most of the experiences I write about pertain only to me, they could just as well have happened to anyone my age who lived in Glen Rock during that same time period of 1945 to 1963.
