Census 2020 Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I participate? More than one-fifth of the Town’s operating budget is funded by state-shared revenues, which are based on Census numbers. Your participation helps ensure Queen Creek receives its fair share of funding to support critical programs like fire service, law enforcement, street maintenance, parks and recreation. The 2020 Census will serve as the baseline for population estimates for the next decade — you count for today and into the future.

How do I participate? The Census is offering three EASY ways to participate! By March 23, 2020, you will receive a letter with an invitation to participate. You can respond online, over the phone or request a paper copy to return in the mail.

Who counts? Everyone living in the home (babies, roommates, grandparents). For people who live in multiple places (college students, seasonal residents, etc.), they should be counted where they live MOST of the time.

Will someone come to my home? Beginning July 1, Census workers will go to homes that have not participated online, by phone or mail. Avoid that knock on the door by responding prior to July 1.

What will happen with my information? Information can only be used for statistical purposes. All personal information is legally protected for 72 years and cannot be accessed by other government entities. Online information will be secure using advanced encryption.

Do I have to participate? The Census is included in the US Constitution. If you are not counted, Queen Creek, the County and State will lose funding that is used to provide critical programs and services. 17 EXPERIENCETHEQC Winter2019 Soccer Outdoor (3.5-5 yrs and 6-8 yrs) MARTIAL ARTS Kickstart your day!
