Registration for fall preschool will continue until classes are filled or the session begins. Children who attend must be 3 years old and fully toilet trained by August 23, 2021. If your child turns 3 after August 23, call for 2nd session availability. To register for preschool you must provide the following items: the child’s birth cer- tificate, proof of residency, and a $35.00 non-refundable deposit which will be applied to the first preschool payment.

The preschool offers a curriculum that includes number, letter, word, color, and shape identification; arts & crafts; fine and gross motor skills; story time, playtime, and socialization. In addition, the 5 day program offers an introduction to countries around the world, science explorations, and extended math concepts. All classrooms have 2 teachers; 1 or more are certified. All are CPR certi- fied.

Children’s Day Camps Preschool Day Camp Each day the planned activities are geared around a specific theme. Activities will include art, songs, storytime, and playtime. The day camp will also in- clude picnics, outdoor games, and special events. All children must be pre-registered at the Recrea- tion Department office prior to June ??. Children must be three years old and potty-trained when they begin preschool day camp. Birth certificate, proof of residency, and full payment are required at the time of registration. Classes are limited. There- fore, enrollment will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Camp is led by our preschool teachers and held in the pre-school rooms at the Community Center. Mini-Day Camp An alternative to the five day a week camp program is being offered. All children will participate in indoor and outdoor games, park activities, art projects, and craft projects. The major emphasis is on FUN, not athletics. This program will also include special event days! Campers should wear their camp shirt (provided by the Recreation Department) and/or play clothes, use sun-screen, and bring their lunch. Masks must be worn at all times, except while eating. Day Camp-Full Day

This 7 week day camp provides a safe, FUN envi- ronment for your child. Campers will be able to swim twice a week, make arts and crafts projects, participate in indoor and outdoor games, and enjoy many special event days! Field trips will be local, a trip to the barn and also to the fire house. Campers should wear play cloths and apply sun screen. To register, parents must bring their child’s current report card from an Evergreen Park School and ENTIRE FEE. Spaces are extremely limited. Drop off for all age groups will be at the Activity Center, 3220 W. 98th Street. Pick up will be at the Community Center, 3450 W. 97th Street, except on swim days. On swim days pick up will be at the Evergreen Park Community High School, 99th and Kedzie Ave. Masks must be worn at all times, except while eating or swimming. Our Director and Supervisors are certified teach- ers. All counselors are high school graduates who are either in college or college-bound.

Dance Camps All dance camps and classes taught at the Senior Center (9547 S. Homan Ave). See the following pages for class descriptions and a full schedule of dates, times, and fees. All camps will adhere to the Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines for summer camps, including requiring social distancing and wearing masks. Classes may be added, combined or canceled depending on enrollment. Theme-based camps include instruction in creative movement, ballet and jazz, stories, crafts, dress up days and more! Taekwondo Classes are taught under the direction of G. Master Ki Hong Kim (9th Dan World Federation). Students have the op- portunity to improve concentration and self-esteem, achieve life- long fitness, and learn self-defense skills. A $45.00 uniform fee is required at the first class of the 2nd session. Little Dragons (Age 4-5) 3:35-4:15 P.M. This introductory class is designed to captivate the interest of our youngest students. Skills are developed through gentle instruction and appropriate games for their ability. This class focuses on developing balance, coordina- tion, and respect for the discipline of training. Early Taekwondo (Age 6-7) 4:20—5:05 P.M. Designed especially for the younger children of 6-7 years, this program helps kids develop conditioning, coordination, listening skill, and self- confidence through creative activities. Youth Taekwondo (Age 8-13) 5:10—5:55 P.M. This program offers a balanced cardiovascular workout, including punching, kicking, and blocking skills, using the Taekwondo tradition and self-control. Creativity Art Camp Creativity camp provides kids the chance to explore the exciting world of art and creating. Pee Wee Tennis (Ages 4-6) June 10-July 15 (Session 1) & July 22-August 26 (Session 2) Thursday Held at Veterans Park 4:00-4:45pm $36R/$41NR per 6 week session Your child will learn proper grip, basic strokes, and other beginning tennis fundamentals through lots of fun drills and tennis-like games. This class also will help children to develop hand-eye coordination, movement skills, and get a feel for the ball. Equipment will be provided and age appropriate. Children will have a blast and gain the proper foundation on which they may continue to build and develop their interest in tennis. Bring a labeled face mask and water bottle. Sanitized equipment will be provided, but each child is also welcome to bring his/her own labeled racket.

Junior Tennis (Ages 7-9) June 10-July 15 (Session 1) & July 22-August 26 (Session 2) Thursday Held at Veterans Park 5:00-6:00pm $48R/$54NR per 6 week session Youngsters enrolled in the Junior Tennis class will learn the basics of tennis as well as advanced strokes, depending on whether they are at the beginner or intermediate level. Racket face control, ball bounce judgment, receiving skills, space management, rallying skills, and court movement will be emphasized. Young players will develop the agility and coordination needed for effective tennis play. Situational drills and games will help them to establish a solid foundation for future development in the sport and build a lifelong love of tennis. Bring a labeled face mask and water bottle. Sanitized equipment will be provided, but each child is also welcome to bring his/her own labeled racket.

Youth Tennis (Ages 10-12) June 10-July 15 (Session 1) & July 22-August 26 (Session 2) Thursday Held at Veterans Park 6:15-7:15pm $48R/$54NR per 6 week session Young players concentrate on stroke development, rallying skills, and learning to play matches at a faster pace. Ball receiving and placement, court movement, and overall tennis strategy will be emphasized. Players will focus on their power and accuracy to improve their performance. Through challenging and exciting drills and matches, youngsters will develop the racket skills, coordination, agility, and stamina needed for recreational and competitive tennis play. Archery Camp (Ages 7-10) NEW! July 12-16 (Monday-Friday) 1:00-3:00pm $75R/$83NR Held at Yukich Field Are you interested in learning a fun, challenging and timeless sport? Participants will learn an excellent, nationally recognized beginner’s 9-step to the 10 ring progression. Archery helps participants’ concentration and increases discipline. Participants also will learn about archery history and equipment, archery characters in the movies and comics, Olympic archery, archery folk heroes, and other fun archery facts through interesting activities and discussions. Flag Football Camp (Ages 7-10) NEW! June 21-25 (Monday-Friday) 9:30-11:30am $75R/$83NR Held at Yukich Field Prepare for the fall football season. Through positive coaching, players will build flag football skills like catching, passing, de-flagging, and offense and defense strategies. Baseball/Softball Camp (Ages 7-10) NEW! August 9-13 (Monday-Friday) 1:00-3:00pm $75R/$83NR Held at Yukich Field This camp will include instruction in skill development, fundamentals and games. Drills for defense, hitting, base running and throwing will be taught. Outfield, infield, pitching and catching segments will all be included. Sand Volleyball Camp (Ages 7-10) NEW! August 9-13 (Monday-Friday) 9:30-11:30am $75R/$83NR Held at Duffy Park Join us on the sand court this summer for some exciting volleyball action! Sand (beach) volleyball is a great physical workout as well as a way to practice all around skills and ball control. Young volleyball players will focus on drills such as passing, underhand and overhand setting, attacking, defense and serving. Daily scrimmages will allow players to use these skills in a game environment. This camp is designed to help players of all skill levels foster a love for volleyball by focusing on skill development, healthy competition, and positive enthusiasm. Tennis Camp (Ages 7-10) July 26-30 (Monday-Friday) 9:30-11:30am $75R/$83NR Held at Veterans Park Join us for a tennis camp that offers effective instruction to give participants the opportunity to fine tune their tennis skills in a fun, positive atmosphere. Young players will concentrate on racket face control, stroke development, ball bounce judgment and placement, receiving skills and other essential tennis techniques as well as develop the agility, speed, and coordination needed for effective tennis play. Challenging and exciting drills and games will be implemented to reinforce these techniques. Boys and girls will leave the camp with confidence and enjoyment in the “sport for a lifetime.” Equipment will be provided. Please bring a face mask and water bottle.

Track, Field & Fitness Camp (Ages 7-10) July 26-30 (Monday-Friday) 1:00-3:00pm $75R/$83NR Held at Duffy Park Young athletes learn the fundamentals to improve and develop flexibility, proper stretching, body positioning, core-strength, balance, and cool-down techniques as they relate to exercising and the jumping, running and throwing skills involved in the sport of track and field. Participate in fitness games like hot lava, freeze game and relay races as well as sprints, long-distance walking, running, hurdles, long jump, and discus throw. Campers have a fun track and field meet on the last day of camp. Equipment will be provided. Please bring a face mask and water bottle.

Lacrosse Camp (Ages 7-10) June 21-25 (Monday-Friday) 1:00-3:00pm $75R/$83NR Held at Yukich Field Come play lacrosse--the fastest game on two feet--with us! Players will learn various lacrosse techniques such as cradling, scooping, passing, catching, shooting, dodging, and goalie skills—the fundamentals any lacrosse player must have! Drills and skill-oriented games in a fast-paced and safe environment will be used to teach these fundamentals. Equipment will be provided. Please bring a face mask and water bottle.

Outdoor Ball Hockey Camp (Ages 7-10) NEW! July 12-16 (Monday-Friday) 9:30-11:30am $75R/$83NR Held at Yukich Rink Come outdoors this summer for some hockey fun! SportsKids’ ball hockey camp will introduce kids to the fundamental concepts of the game in a fun, supportive, and non-competitive environment. Coaches zero in on skills like ball control, positional play, passing, shooting, speed, getting open, stick handling and goal tending in fun, exciting, skill-focused play. Youngsters will enhance their game and improve their scoring technique through weekly scrimmages. Equipment will be provided. Please bring a face mask and water bottle.

Indoor Cycling

Cycling is a fun cardio workout on a stationary bike. It uses all of the major muscle groups as you pedal. In this 45 minute class you will get full body workout as weights are used to increase upper body strength. BIG calorie burn. Space is limited; so reserve today!

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention Tai Chi is a program designed by a medical doctor and based on the easy-to-learn Sun style Tai Chi. Sign up now for this exciting and continuing opportunity to assist in the planting of our Evergreen Park Youth Garden . Grades 4-12 Historical Tour of Evergreen Students can receive service learning hours. Park Cycling Experience!!!!

Free Summer Concert Series

The Evergreen Park Recreation Department hosts 3 FREE concerts in the park throughout the summer. Pack your picnic basket, bring your blankets or lawn chairs, and treat your family and friends to some outstanding enter- tainment. All concerts are held in Klein Park, 97th & Homan, from 6:00— 8:00 P.M. Each family group has to sit together in their own socially distant pod. All COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. Call the Recreation Depart- ment office (708-229-3373) in case of inclement weather.
