  • Open Government Data, the Case of Polish Public Sector
Online Journal of Applied Knowledge Management A Publication of the International Institute for Applied Knowledge Management Volume 6, Issue 2, 2018 Special Issue on Knowledge Management: Research, Organization, and Applied Innovation Open government data, the case of Polish public sector Jędrzej Wieczorkowski, Warsaw School of Economics, Poland, [email protected] Ilona Pawełoszek, Częstochowa University of Technology, Poland, [email protected] Abstract This paper presents the idea of open government data along with the benefits and threats resulting from using open data. We describe the results of our research study on availability of the open data on the example of Poland with particular emphasis on Central Repository for Public Information (CRPI). The comparison of CRPI in Poland and other countries has been discussed. The review of accessible public information has been made with particular focus on data formats. Data formats are an important aspect of open data as they facilitate or impede the reuse of data. The insights from our participant observation in the projects of computerization of public administration are also presented. Although the Open Government Data (OGD) movement can provide a number of benefits, recent study has shown that in Poland it has not achieved its full potential yet. Keywords: Open data, open government data, linked data, central repository for public information. Introduction Idea of Open Government Data A concept of universal right of access to information is not new. It has been a subject of the public debate from the middle of the 18th century (Mendel, 2003). In the second part of 20th century the law of free access to information became a common standard in many countries.

  • PART I — the Budget by Functional Area
PART I THE BUDGET BY FUNCTIONAL AREA EDUCATION, LABOR AND FAMILY ASSISTANCE COUNCIL ON THE ARTS MISSION The primary responsibility for oversight and administration of the State’s artistic and cultural resources is assigned to three existing entities — the Council on the Arts, the Empire State Plaza Performing Arts Center Corporation and the New York State Theatre Institute. The 2003-04 Executive Budget proposes the establishment of the New York Institute for Cultural Education to administer a variety of statewide cultural education programs and important cultural institutions. Working together, these agencies expand access to the performing and fine arts, preserve the State’s cultural resources and promote greater public awareness of New York’s rich cultural heritage. ORGANIZATION AND STAFFING The Council on the Arts is headed by a Chair and a Vice Chair and consists of 20 members nominated for 5-year terms by the Governor with confirmation by the Senate. The Council’s staff, headed by an Executive Director, is organized into an Administrative Division and a Program Division, both located in New York City. The Council has expertise in several major artistic disciplines (including dance, theater and music) and provides advisory services and financial assistance to New York’s arts community. During 2003-04, the Council on the Arts will have a workforce of 52 for the review, processing and administration of arts grants and loans to nonprofit organizations. The Empire State Plaza Performing Arts Center Corporation (the “Egg”) was established in 1979 as a public benefit corporation to administer a performing arts center in Albany that offers a diverse array of cultural and artistic programming.

/ • A**t*t*h NUMBER 7 MARCH 1963 VOLUME 1 PHILATELIC ASPECTS OF THE PAN AMERICAN GAMES - Bob Bruce - The Pan American Games are one of six specific competitions to which the Inter national Olympic Committee has given Its definite sanction. These Include the Far East Games (discontinued In 1930) and the Central American and Caribbean Games, the Bolivarlan Games, the Pan American Games, the Mediterranean Games, and the Asian Games, all of which are going strongly In their Individual cycles despite scattered political handicaps In a few cases. The plan for the Pan American Games is for competition every four years in the year directly preceding the Olympic Games. Entry Is limited to the countries of North, Central, and South America. The first Pan American Games were held In Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1951. Then followed Games In Mexico City in 1955 and in Chi cago in 1959. The Fourth Pan American Games will be held from April 20th to May 5th of this year in Sao Paulo, Brazil. With these Games leas than two months away, plans for participation by the ath letes of the United States are in the final stage of execution. Yet the very timing of the Games presents some Intriguing problems. Since the Games are being staged In what i3 normally an "off-season" for this country, United States Olympic Committee activities relative to team selection and pre-competltion conditioning are forced into a race against time. In addition, it is likely that the personnel of this Pan American team will exceed In number that on an average Olympic team at the very time when regular fund raising programs are Just beginning to get underway.

  • History of Badminton
Facts and Records History of Badminton In 1873, the Duke of Beaufort held a lawn party at his country house in the village of Badminton, Gloucestershire. A game of Poona was played on that day and became popular among British society’s elite. The new party sport became known as “the Badminton game”. In 1877, the Bath Badminton Club was formed and developed the first official set of rules. The Badminton Association was formed at a meeting in Southsea on 13th September 1893. It was the first National Association in the world and framed the rules for the Association and for the game. The popularity of the sport increased rapidly with 300 clubs being introduced by the 1920’s. Rising to 9,000 shortly after World War Π. The International Badminton Federation (IBF) was formed in 1934 with nine founding members: England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Denmark, Holland, Canada, New Zealand and France and as a consequence the Badminton Association became the Badminton Association of England. From nine founding members, the IBF, now called the Badminton World Federation (BWF), has over 160 member countries. The future of Badminton looks bright. Badminton was officially granted Olympic status in the 1992 Barcelona Games. Indonesia was the dominant force in that first Olympic tournament, winning two golds, a silver and a bronze; the country’s first Olympic medals in its history. More than 1.1 billion people watched the 1992 Olympic Badminton competition on television. Eight years later, and more than a century after introducing Badminton to the world, Britain claimed their first medal in the Olympics when Simon Archer and Jo Goode achieved Mixed Doubles Bronze in Sydney.
