  • New Records of Basidiomycetes from the Pskov Region in the Polistovskiy State Nature Reserve (Russia)
Nature Conservation Research. Kalinina1,*, Sergey Yu. Bolshakov1, Tatiana M. Bulyonkova2 1Komarov Botanical Institute of RAS, Russia 2Ershov Institute of Informatics Systems, SB RAS, Russia *e-mail: [email protected] Received: 07.02.2020. Revised: 29.04.2020. Accepted: 30.04.2020. Prior to a present paper, 918 species of basidiomycete fungi were known in the Pskov region (Russia), including 512 species recorded in the Sebezhskiy National Park. Fungal inventorying studies in Protected Areas are an important part of biodiversity assessment. The constantly expanding knowledge on this vast group of organisms, powered by new finds in the field and advances in molecular genetics, make fungal inventorying in any territory a long-term effort rather than an isolated event. In 2019, we assessed the fungal biota of the Polistovskiy State Nature Reserve (Pskov region, Russia) in various forest types in the core and buffer zones along nine designated routes. The material was studied using the standard methods of fungal taxonomy. As a result, 74 basidomycete species new to Pskov region were revealed. Among them, six species (Galerina hybrida, Gymnopus erythropus, Lepiota boudieri, Pluteus velutinus, Rugosomyces obscurissimus, and Simocybe haustellaris) were new to the Northwest of European Russia and four species (Achroomyces effusus, Botryobasidium stigmatisporum, Gale- rina caulocystidiata, and Pseudobaeospora celluloderma) were new for Russia. The former are here provided with brief notes, whereas the latter are supplied with descriptions of studied specimens, drawings of micro- structures and discussion of their distribution, habitats, similar and closely related species, and current state of knowledge.

P.-A. Moreau &P. Roux (in MOREAU et al, 1999).

MushRumors The Newsletter of the Northwest Mushroomers Association Volume 28, Issue 4 December 1, 2017 By Eric Worden This year’s Wild Mushroom Show was a great success in inspiring new community members to join our group! Thirty one new member/families signed up at the show. In addition, 16 existing members found it convenient to renew their memberships while at the show. Our current membership total is 226! However, due to the annual nature of the show, the seasonality of mushroom activities, and our calendar-year membership period (they expire on December 31), most (148) of our current members will have their memberships expire at the end of the year unless they renew. A graph of members by last pay date shows that this same pattern occurred last year. This graph evenly distributes all members across the chart horizontally, but positions them vertically by their last renewal date. We can see that a lot of people sign up or renew shortly before or during the show, then there is a lull during the winter, before club activities resume in the spring. Note that when you join or renew during September or later, your membership lasts through the following year. Our club relies on membership fees, in addition to Wild Mushroom Show revenue to pay for our club activities and expenses. To support the club, and to remain on the mailing list, please remember to renew! Annual memberships are $15 for families or $10 for students. If you forget, you will get a reminder email in the spring. You can renew online with a credit card or PayPal at http://www.northwestmushroomers.org/ join-or-renew-membership.

Manuscripts are peer-reviewed to ensure that the information is scientifically credible, technically accurate, appropriately written for the intended audience, and is designed and published in a professional manner. The Natural Resources Technical Reports series is used to disseminate the peer-reviewed results of scientific studies in the physical, biological, and social sciences for both the advancement of science and the achievement of the National Park Service’s mission. The reports provide contributors with a forum for displaying comprehensive data that are often deleted from journals because of page limitations. Current examples of such reports include the results of research that addresses natural resource management issues; natural resource inventory and monitoring activities; resource assessment reports; scientific literature reviews; and peer reviewed proceedings of technical workshops, conferences, or symposia.

Flammuloides fruiting during and soon after snowmelt in the subalpine Abies forests of California: Pholiota olivaceophylla is characterized by rather pale slime-covered basidiocarps, relatively pale brown ellipsoid to slightly phaseoliform spores, 6.0–8.5 × 3.5–5.0 µm, with an inconspicuous germ pore, and abundant lageniform pleurocystidia. The ITS sequence of the type collection of Ph. olivaceophylla matches those of recent collections. From phylogenetic analyses and morphology, it is clear that the secotioid Nivatogastrium nubigenum [=Pholiota nubigena] is nested within Pholiota; this species has retained ballistospores and the typical curved sterigmata for active spore dispersal. Key words — Abies magnifica, biodiversity, Strophariaceae Introduction The genus Pholiota (Fr.) P. Kumm. is generally characterized by (pale) yellow to brown basidiocarps with (in most species, notably excepting the type) a viscid to gelatinous, often scaly, pileus, an annulus, rusty to dark brown smooth to slightly rough spores with a germ pore, cheilocystidia and pleurocystidia (in a number of species as chrysocystidia), and typically lignicolous habit (e.g., Jacobsson 2009).
