Dynamite at home 11

Jesus and his friends Martha, Mary and Lazarus :1-44. During the lockdown I have missed seeing my friends& family. It’s ok having zoom calls but it’s not quite the same is it? When we are separated from our friends and the people we love, it is hard. I wonder what you are looking forward to doing when you can meet up safely with friends & family again?

Jesus absolutely understands how hard it is to miss friends. In the story today we see Jesus missing one of his friends Lazarus. This story contains the shortest verse in the , ’’. You see Jesus good friend Lazarus had died and Jesus hadn’t got to be to be with his friend in time. Let’s read or hear the story together.

To see and hear this story being told have a look on our ABC facebook page,

Family Church @ABC The story today is found in John11:1-44 One day, Jesus received a message from his friends Mary & Martha. Jesus please come quickly. Lazarus our brother is very sick.’ But Jesus stayed where he was for 2 more days. Then Jesus travelled to the place where his friends lived. Martha ran out to meet him. She was crying. Martha said to Jesus, ‘you are too late our dear brother has died If only you could have been here sooner you could have healed Lazarus, he wouldn’t be dead now.’ Jesus was so sad and when he saw Mary crying Jesus was so sad, he wept. Then Jesus walked over to Lazarus cave tomb. He told some men to roll away the big stone which was over the cave entrance. Everyone wondered what Jesus was thinking, Lazarus was dead, and the cave would be stinky by now.

Jesus spoke to his Heavenly Father,’ Father I know you always hear me. Now show everyone that you have sent me’. Jesus took a deep breath and shouted into the cave, ’Lazarus come out’. Everyone could barely breath, what was going to happen? Then suddenly Lazarus appeared standing tall and smiling. He walked right out of the cave. Lots of the people who saw this realised that Jesus was God’s son. Jesus said, ‘take off his grave clothes and let him go’. We don’t know what happened that evening at the home of Lazarus Martha and Mary. What do you think happened next? I think that they might have had a praise party. You can make up your own prayer or find the THY KINGDOM COME resources

The family prayer adventure map on the Thy Kingdom come Resource page and the family prayer resources to help you to pray this week. . Here is a second prayer idea to try.

A dandelion prayer you will need to blow the dandelion gently before you say each line. As the dandelion seeds blow away remember Jesus hears our prayers and he will communicate or talks to us. I wonder what Jesus might say to you this week. He is the best friend.

1.Lord Jesus we praise you that you are with us and we can trust you.

2.Thank you that you understand me when I’m sad and happy., Thank you that you love me the way .

3.Lord Jesus I am sorry when I forget to talk to tell you how I am feeling. I know you will always understand. 4. Lord Jesus I pray for (name a friend who you would like to become a friend of Jesus).

5. Please help me to remember that like Martha, Mary & Lazarus I can trust

you all the time. Thank you, Jesus.
