Yerevan 2019 - 89th International Session of the European Youth Parliament TRAVEL BOOKLET WELCOME Dear delegates, Welcome! Congratulations on being selected for Yerevan 2019! Yerevan is Armenia’s largest city. Being 2800 years old, it is a town with a rich historical and cultural heritage. We are more than happy to assist you in booking your tickets. This guide will help you to plan your travels. To avoid problems and make sure your journey goes as smoothly as possible, we kindly ask you to take the time to read it carefully. Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us. GENERAL INFORMATION Delegates are expected to arrive to Yerevan no later than 16:00 CEST on the 9th of March. After going through the registration process, the rooms will be available according to the general standards, from 14:00. The Organising Team will happily meet you at the Yerevan International Airport and provide you with the free bus ride to the hostel. However, keep in mind that the buses will have a certain schedule, thus, you might not be able to directly go to the hotel once arrived but wait a bit at the airport. TRAVEL INFORMATION Visa: Entry visa not required for the nationals of the following countries: The European Union Member States, Andorra, Iceland, Norway, Georgia, Belarus, Russia, Moldova, Switzerland, Ukraine, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania. Citizens of states not mentioned above will be required to obtain visa either online here: https://evisa.mfa.am/ or once they arrive at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan. More information about visa policy of Armenia for your country can be found here: https://bit.ly/2TA62rw MONEY AND PRICES Armenian currency is called Dram (AMD), 1 euro = 550 AMD. The daily exchange rate can be found at www.cba.am. Currency can be easily changed in banks, supermarkets, exchange points with no quantity limit. Credit and debit cards are accepted in almost all shops, stores, hotels, cafes, pubs, etc. In comparison to European countries, the prices for most of the goods and services are 3-5 times cheaper. ARRIVALS By Plane Flights from Central and Western Europe take from 2.5 to 4 hours; regular flights to Yerevan (http://www.zvartnots.am/en/) are from Vienna, Paris, Athens, Rome, Minsk, Moscow, Warsaw, Brussels, Berlin, Kiev, Istanbul etc. The airlines performing flights to Yerevan include Austrian Airlines, Air France, Aeroflot, Aegean Airlines, AtlasGlobal, Brussels Airlines, LOT Polish Air- lines, Ukrainian International Airlines, etc. If you arrive in Yerevan by plane, the organizing team will meet you and provide free bus ride to the hostel. However, if you arrive earlier than the session dates, keep in mind that bus number 201 stops right in front of arrivals terminal, costs 300 AMD, and will take you directly to city center. If you are flying from Austria, Czech Republic, France, Latvia, Spain, Germany, Poland, UK, Hun- gary, Lithuania, Cyprus, Greece or Italy, it might be cheaper (100-150€ roundtrip) to take a flight to Kutaisi, Georgia with WizzAir. From there you can take a bus to Tbilisi (4 hours), which will be waiting right in front of the airport and costs 20 GEL (7 Euros) and in Tbilisi, travel to Yerevan from station square. The journey from Tbilisi to Yerevan will take approximately 6 hours by minibus and will cost 10-12€. DEPARTURES Delegates can leave the Session anytime on the 17th of March If you need further advice on planning your journey and are not sure regarding the timing, please contact the Participants Support. The organising team will lead you to and help you at the departure spot as well. VENUES IBIS Hotel Yerevan (accomodation) Situated right at the heart of the city, IBIS hotel will be our accommodation throughout the session! The hotel was opened in December 2016 and is very close to the Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre named after A. Spendiarian, the Republic Square, The Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran), the Cascade complex, and within easy reach of the Zvartnots International Airport. Address: Northern Avenue 5/1 Telephone number: +374 (10) 595959 Ayb School (TeamBuilding) Ayb School, is a private educational complex in Yerevan, Armenia, opened in 2011 by the Ayb Educational Foundation, which is going to be our TeamBuilding venue. The school is named after the first letter of the Armenian alphabet Ayb (Armenian: Այբ). With over 20 faculties and 19000 students in average, it is informally known as Armenia's "mother university".
