Armenian Folia Anglistika - the reviewed international academic journal of the Armenian Association for the Study of English (since 2005) and Yerevan State University (since 2015) aims at fostering research of the English Language, Literature and Culture in Armenia and elsewhere and facilitate intellectual cooper- ation between high school teachers and scholars. Armenian Folia Anglistika is intended to be published twice a year. Articles of interest to university-level teachers and scholars in English Studies are warmly wel- comed by the multi-national Editorial Board of the Journal. Yerevan is the administrative, cultural, and industrial center of the country. It has been the capital since 1918, the thirteenth in the history of Armenia. 2797 years have passed since the foundation of our city. The name of the city of Yerevan goes back to the period of Urartu and originates from the name "Erebuni". Yerevan is located on the edge of the Ararat valley on both banks of the river Hrazdan, at an altitude of 900 - 1200 above sea level. The climate is acutely continental with hot and dry summer and relatively severe winter. Armenia was the first country in the world to adopt Christianity as a state religion in 301 A.D. -

As ABMDR celebrates its Crystal 15th Anniversary this year, we reflect on those who have suffered in their dark days. We honor those devoted to our cause ABMDR to organize who have brought light to so many — all of you who have dedicated your precious time and resources as second EFI Training volunteers and donors. We pray that for the desperate and Educational patients waiting for help we will find them donors pure of heart — from our exist- ing registry of over 25,000, or among the new potential donors yet to register. YOUNG LOCAL LEADERS: THE FUTURE FOR LOCAL DEMOCRACY Yerevan, Armenia 24-26 May 2016 (Ani Plaza Hotel) Context The seminar “Young local leaders: the future for local democracy” is organised by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe within the framework of the project “Support to consolidating local democracy in Armenia”, which is funded by the government of Denmark. The aim of this seminar is to offer young local leaders of Armenia a platform for exchanging best practices in the field of local democracy, raising their awareness on the European Charter of Local Self-Government, its practical application in Armenia, as well as introducing principles of local governance. Objectives To raise awareness on European principles of local democracy, in particular the key provisions of the European Charter of Local Self-Government, and how these principles may be applied in Armenia; To exchange experience with local elected representatives from other European countries and provide specific recommendations on how local authorities and civil society can unite their efforts for better responding to citizens’ needs; To enhance skills on citizens participation and communication in the context of local political governance and decision-making processes, in particular to get involve further in public affairs and the community life, and with the view to engage in local elections; To raise awareness on ethics in politics and decision-making and to discuss practical recommendations on how to counter corruption and unethical behaviour. This dissertation will serve as a unifying element in bringing the Armenians in the diaspora and in the homeland together through the power of music. The information collected for each piece includes instrumentation, duration, publisher information, and other details. This research will be beneficial for music students, conductors, orchestra managers, festival organizers, cultural event planning and those studying the influences of Armenian folk music in orchestral writing. It is especially intended to be useful in searching for music by Armenian composers for thematic and cultural programing, as it should aid in the acquisition of parts from publishers.
