Backbeat: Evanescence Rocks New York, Has Spinal Tap Moment Backstage  NEWS by Christa Titus | November 02, 2011 1:53 PM EDT Backbeat: Evanescence Rocks New York, Has Spinal Tap Moment Backstage NEWS By Christa Titus | November 02, 2011 1:53 PM EDT Backbeat: Evanescence Rocks New York, Has Spinal Tap Moment Backstage Evanescence's Amy Lee gives former Wind-Up Records exec Diana Meltzer a hug while surrounded by (from left) Evanescence bassist Tim McCord, drummer Will Hunt, and guitarists Troy McLawhorn and Terry Balsamo. Meltzer's ex-husband, label co-founder Alan Meltzer, passed away over the weekend. (Photo: Christa Titus) As a flagship band for Wind-up Records, Evanescence did the memory ofrecently deceased label co-founder/chairman Alan Meltzer proud with its performance at New York's Terminal 5 Wednesday night. The multi-tiered hall, packed to the gills with fans, was awash in stunning blue, magenta and white lights as the quintet powered through hits new and old like "Going Under" and "What You Want." Taking a moment from blowing the crowd away with her soaring voice, frontwoman Amy Lee thanked fans for sending the band's new self-titled album to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 earlier this month and "for letting me perform at home, so I can go home and sleep in my own bed." Check out all of our Backbeats -- our exclusive look at the people behind the music business -- right here. Backstage, guitarist Troy McLawhorn revealed a Spinal Tap-esque moment the band experienced post-show-even though security had just watched the act perform, they initially refused to let the band members return to their dressing rooms because they weren't wearing all- access passes. Former Wind-Up VP of A&R (and Alan Meltzer's ex-wife) Diana Meltzer, in an eye-catching red dress, reminisced about the journey she's been on since signing frontwoman Amy Lee. Meltzer recalled hearing Lee sing for the first time: "I didn't even see her. I heard a tape of her singing 'My Immortal,'" Meltzer recalled. "I signed her the next day." Questions? Comments? EVANESCENCE DISPONIBILE IN DIGITALE E DAL10 LUGLIO IN RADIO THE GAME IS OVER : L’ALBUM DI INEDITI IN USCITA NEL 2020 POSTICIPATA AL 9 SETTEMBRE 2021 l’unica data italiana al MEDIOLANUM FORUM DI ASSAGO (MI) 03/07/2020 il nuovo singolo estratto da “THE BITTER TRUTH” È disponibile in digitale e da venerdì 10 luglio entrerà in rotazione radiofonica “THE GAME IS OVER”, il nuovo singolo estratto dall’album di inediti “THE BITTER TRUTH” (BMG), in uscita nel 2020.

The most memo- rable for this magazine/bar owner were the Warped Tour and Wakestock, where such bands as Bad Religion, Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, Closet Monster, The Trews and Crowned King had audiences in mosh-pit frenzies. At Wakestock, in Wasaga Beach, Ont., Gasoline, Fox Racing, and Bluenotes rocked so hard at their two-day private cottage party that local authorities shut down the stage after Magneta Lane and Flashlight Brown. Poor Moneen didn't get to crush the eardrums of the drunken revellers. That was day one! Day two was an even bigger party with the live music again shut down. The Reason, Moneen and Crowned King owned the patio until Alexisonfire and their crew rolled into party. Gasoline would also like to thank Chuck (see cover story) and other UN officials for making sure that the boys in Sum41 made it back to the Bovine for another cocktail, despite the nearby mortar and gunfire during their Warchild excursion. • A Descriptive Study of Figurative Language in Evanescence's Song
A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY OF FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE IN EVANESCENCE’S SONG Research Paper Submitted as a Partial Fulfillment of requirements For Getting Bachelor Degree of Education In English Department Proposed by: WINARNI A 320 040 069 ENGLISH DEPARTMENT SCHOOL OF TEACHER TRAINING AND EDUCATION MUHAMMADIYAH UNIVERSITY OF SURAKARTA 2009 CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION A. Background of the Study Song is a device to express human feeling. Everything we see, everything we do is associated with the sound we are hearing (and which is echoing in our minds). Songs stick in our minds and become part of us. It is hard to escape music and song as it occupies ever more of the world around us, in operating theaters, in our cars, restaurant and cafes, shopping ills, and at sport events. Songs can be used by listeners for their own purposes, largely because many types of song do not have precise people, place or time reference. For those who find them relevant, songs happen whenever and wherever one hears them and they are, consciously or subconsciously, about the people in one’s own life. Most importantly, perhaps, songs are relaxing they provide variety and fun and encourage harmony within oneself and within a group. Little wonder they are important tools in sustaining cultures, religions, patriotism and even resolutions. Talking about song cannot be separated from music. Lyrics in a song strengthen the existence of music. The song lyrics having a role to kindle, meaning imagination is called a product of kindling the meaning. Music and song are forming a communal activity in which, for a wile, the world becomes one.

  • Classes of 1967 Echo and Pine
Classes of 1967 Echo and Pine June 1-4 2017 Letter from the President Dear Members of the Classes of 1967, On this noteworthy anniversary, it is my great pleasure to welcome you back to campus for what promises to be a memorable weekend. From my conversations with many of you and from the memories you share in the following pages, it is apparent that the social and political upheavals of the 1960s – and their expressions on campus – substantially shaped your worldviews and your lives. Equally apparent is the collective sense of the Colleges’ impact on the way in which the Classes of 1967 navigated those turbulent times, from the attentiveness and care of the faculty and administration, to the camaraderie of the student body and the demanding nature of the coursework. As we join in celebrating your 50th Reunion, perhaps most apparent is the remarkable success of the Classes of 1967. Through the Civil Rights movement and the Vietnam War, through the Cold War and the advent of the Internet, through the 9/11 attacks and the great recession, your classes have thrived in this changing world and helped shape it – as doctors and educators; business and religious leaders; attorneys and artists; service-members in law enforcement and the military; local, national and international volunteers; and parents and grandparents. On behalf of our faculty, staff and students, I thank you for joining us this weekend and for your many contributions to your communities, your country and your alma maters. Sincerely, Mark D.
