    All Together Now 2021 A Matching Grant for Jewish Camp June 3, 2021 OVERVIEW Leading Jewish funders have committed $10.4 million in matching funds to nonprofit Jewish overnight camps to inspire philanthropic giving in 2021. Funding for the All Together Now 2021 matching grant comes from the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF) and an anonymous donor with additional support from the Klaff Family Foundation, the Franco Family, and other generous donors. From February 1 through January 7, 2022, camps participating in the All Together Now 2021 matching grant for Jewish overnight camp will be eligible to receive $1 from the All Together Now 2021 Fund (“ATN Fund”) for every $2 they raise from other donors (1:2 match). Each camp’s maximum grant allocation will be based on camp size and utilization. All participating camps will receive an approval email and a letter of agreement containing the final grant allocation. Agreement letters must be signed and returned through the HGF Online Grant System by March 1, 2021. If a camp is not permitted to open for some or all of summer 2021, camper families may convert some of or all prepaid deposits and tuition to a charitable donation to camp for a dollar-to-dollar match (1:1 match). BONUS GRANT Camps that complete the matching grant allocation on or before October 8, 2021, and submit the final report before October 31, 2021, will receive a one-time US $10,000 bonus.     JEWISH FEDERATION OF GREATER PHILADELPHIA 2020 Impact Report I am proud to present you with the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s 2020 Impact Report, a detailed account of the support we provide to our communities in light of the extraordinary challenges we are facing, from the COVID-related issues of food insecurity, isolation, financial hardships, mental health and wellness, the escalation of anti-Semitism, and the racial inequities throughout our region. It covers an update about our current work, as well as the Annual Report of the previous fiscal year, September 1, 2018 - August 31, 2019. For more than 119 years, the Jewish Federation has provided an infrastructure of support for Jewish people and organizations in need. Our role as the leading safety net funder of Jewish services in the Greater Philadelphia area, and among the top funders of Greater Philadelphia philanthropic organizations serving all members of our community, has enabled us to mobilize quickly in response to the COVID-19 crisis. So far this year, we have raised and leveraged $2.1 million for emergency relief efforts in addition to the nearly $50 million resourced into our community through our grant making processes, rent subsidies, and partnership with the Foundation for Jewish Day Schools. Given the unique needs of today, Jewish Community Fund dollars are being released to our partner agencies as general operating grants in lieu of program grants to allow flexibility in planning and to support each agency’s greatest demands. My name is Sally Benson Alsher and I’m here with Margo Bloom, who is the director of the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia. Margo, for the record, have you agreed to do this interview? MARGO: Yes, I have. INT: Do you want to tell me where you were bom and when? MARGO: I was bom in 1953 in New York. INT: Where in New York? MARGO: I was born in Queens. INT: What do you remember, if anything, about your grandparents or what can you tell me about them? MARGO: Maternal, paternal, both? INT: Start with paternal. MARGO: When I was growing up my father’s parents lived in Boro Park, where my father actually grew up. Their names were Minnie and Phil Bloom. They lived at 1466 53rd Street in Boro Park, in a wonderful building. They owned the building. They lived on the bottom floor and they rented out the top two floors. Both of them were very involved Jewishly. My grandmother taught Hebrew school and she’d been a teacher for many, many years. Both my grandparents were strong Zionists. They had spent time in Palestine. My grandfather was in the Jewish Legion, he served in the Jewish Legion in 1919 in Palestine. I think that was the highpoint of his life. They were very active as Labor Zionists.
