Philosophy of Care For the patients I see in my clinic I strive to provide an educational setting where the patient is able to learn about his condition after which treatment options are presented. I feel a shared decision regarding treatment based on a patient's newly acquired understanding on his condition is essential to provide long term compliance and efficacy of a treatment plan. It is clear to me that this requires an individual approach as I have learned that not all patients will fit into established care algorithms.

Clinical Interests Dr. Clavijo is a urologist fellowship trained in andrology, including male reproductive medicine and surgery. He has a special interest in male reproductive tract reconstruction and treating conditions such as testosterone deficiency, varicocele, sexual dysfunction, infertility, erectile dysfunction (including the placement of penile implants) and Peyronie's disease. He is unique in the Sacramento area as he places a high volume of penile implants. He is skilled in microsurgery and performs vasectomy reversals (vasovasostomy/vasoepididymostomy), microdissection testicular sperm extraction (micro TESE), microsurgical epididymal sperm aspiration (MESA), testicular sperm aspiration (TESA) and microsurgical varicocelectomy.

Research/Academic Interests Dr. Clavijo's research focuses on the effects of lifestyle factors on sexual dysfunction, erectile dysfunction and male infertility. He also has an interest in novel therapies for erectile dysfunction such as low intensity shockwave therapy.
