LEP Communications Report: January 2020

Recent Media Coverage: October and November were dominated by the Energy and Clean Growth Conference, with huge amounts of coverage generated by the conference. The conference made the front page of the Post with the NP11 Clean Growth Report, while the conference received coverage both in through and Telegraph, as well as BBC Radio and Viking FM. (Please see attached report for full details.) Our Clean Growth White Paper launch received coverage in regional press, industry press and busi- ness press, while Drax’s announcement of its own clean growth report also gave the LEP national coverage—including on Sky News. Elsewhere, Lord Haskins’ announcement he is to step down as Chair was widely reported, our skills ’Hire Me’ events were reported on by Radio Humberside, and the A63 bridge move also saw positive coverage for the LEP. Finally, we also received coverage of our campaigns to find a new Chair as well as new business Board members. Future campaigns: Our Skills Advisory Panel work will be featured in this month, our Innovate UK Humber Industrial Decarbonisation Roadmap funding bid will be publicised, and we plan on promoting the work of the Single Conversation Group and will also discuss how the Humber’s natural assets can be used in carbon sequestration.

Launching our own LinkedIn + Twitter Engagement:

LinkedIn progress: LinkedIn: We’ve had a huge period of growth on our LinkedIn page— from 813 in September to 1,166 in December—largely due to the Energy and Clean Growth Conference. Though the arrows are pointing red on the graphic, we’re still receiving more visitors and have far more engagement than in the pre- conference period. Twitter: We are continuing to see growth on our Twitter page— now at almost 8,700 followers—which is very strong for a LEP of our size. It has grown by over 200 followers since September. Engagement has grown since the Energy and Clean Growth Conference but will start to slow over the coming month with Purdah and Christmas—we will make a push for engagement in January to kick-start the new year.
