GETTING TO CAMPUS

(The campus is in downtown Hangzhou, close to the West )

From Xiaoshan Airport: 1. Take airport shuttle (From Airport to Downtown) and get off at the CAAC of Wulin Gate (final stop) 2. Walk to the Wulin Gate bus station (302 meters) 3. Take bus No.28 and get off at Yuquan station (7 stops after the Wulin Gate bus station)

From Airport: 1. Take M2 (Metro 2 --- Direction: From Airport to ) and get off at Hongqiao Railway Station 2. Take train (From Shanghai to Hangzhou) , get off at Hangzhou East railway station or

From Hangzhou East railway station: 1. Take bus No.28 and get off at Yuquan station (20 stops after the railway station)

From Hangzhou railway station: 1. Take bus No.21 (or K21) and get off at Zheda station (22 stops after the railway station)

ATTENTION!! NO TRAIN OR METRO BETWEEN 10:00 AND 06:00 AM !!

AFTER ARRIVING TO CAMPUS

For the participants, who will accommodate in Campus: You will stay in Dormitory Building 31. When you arrive, please directly go to the Building of Cyber-Systems and Control (CSC), where our staffs are waiting for your coming. Note that the CSC Building is a lab building, so please stay quietly and obey the arrangement. They will take you to Dormitory Building.

For the participants, who will not accommodate in Campus: Please directly go to the CSC Building.

Attention!! CSC Building is the place for Course M11

ACCOMMODATION ON CAMPUS

Note that Dining-room for Student Abroad is available for you, where you can use . However, if you want to try other dining-rooms (no cash is accepted), ask our staffs for a meal card.

Dining-room for Student Abroad: Available every day.

Opening Time: Breakfast 7:00- 8:30 Lunch 11:00-14:00 Dinner 17:00-20:00

Other Dining-room: Available every day.

Opening Time: Breakfast 6:30- 9:30 Lunch 11:00-13:00 Dinner 16:30-19:00

Shopping: Two supermarkets are available in the campus where you can get your daily necessities. They are open between 8:00 to 22:30 every day.

Wireless: You will be able to access the wireless internet connection “ZJUWLAN” from everywhere in Campus area, which enables you to scan internal websites and download papers from library.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT HANGZHOU

Climate: In March the weather in Hangzhou is generally cool and sometimes rainy. Raincoat, sweaters and jackets are recommended for outdoor activities. Average temperatures vary around 15ºC

Visa Requirements: All participants are required a valid passport to enter . Citizens of some countries may obtain visa before arrival and some may obtain it at the airport upon arrival. For further information please contact the nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate to check the visa regulations.

Liability and Insurance: The department is not able to take any responsibility whatsoever for injury or damage involving persons and property during the Graduate School. Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip.

Electricity: The electrical current in China is 220 volts, 50 cycles alternating current (AC).

Currency: The monetary unit is the RMB, which comes in bank notes of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100. In China, traveler checks are rarely accepted. ATMs can be found in even the smallest Chinese towns. Most international credit cards or bank cards are accepted (a strip of logos is usually displayed above the ATM). ATMs have a language key to enable you to read the instructions in English.

Working Hours: Banks are open weekdays from 9 AM until noon and from 1:30 PM to 5 PM in the afternoon. are generally open from 9 AM to 5 PM. The majority of tourist attractions are open during the same time every day.

Host City Hangzhou Hangzhou is a modern city in a classic Chinese setting. In eastern China, Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province and one of the seven capitals of ancient China. The city is also the southern end of the -Hangzhou Grand , the longest canal ever built in the world. Find out more about the city’s history which dates back 5,000 years, or immerse yourself in the cultural heritage by sitting back and relaxing with a cup of exquisite West Lake Longjing . Pubs in Hangzhou are vibrant and packed with an international community gathering to chill out, while the tea houses are tranquil with a pleasant environment that allows one to sit back and savor various kinds of coffee and tea.

Shopping in Hangzhou Since ancient times, Hangzhou has been reputed for its production of and tea. Here, visitors can find or Dragonwell tea, which is considered one of the best in China, exquisite silk brocades, as well as unique handicrafts and art pieces. Shopping in Hangzhou ranges from a traditional to a modern experience and there are several major shopping areas spread all over the city. Shops are open, in general, from 9am to 8pm Monday to Saturday; Big shopping malls open from 10am to 10pm seven days a week. Shops do not close for lunch.
