ISSUE 7 (80) Look and pass it on! (written above pamphlet title) For the German soldier (written beneath the pamphlet title) Front cover, heading All Hitler’s conquests in southern Russia – easy come, easy go! With the lives of millions of German soldiers Hitler paid for the raid into the riches of Ukraine and the Caucasus. The Hitler press praised the success of the German troops in every way. But the Red Army warned you, that the victories would only be temporary, only momentarily. The Red Army then, in one unprecedented triumphal march, utterly defeated the Army Group South. The Soviet troops purged all of southern Russia of German invaders and throw them over the national border of the Soviet Union. The Red Army then pursued the remaining German Armed Forces on the Romanian territory and to the Czechoslovakian borders. Only scraps of paper bring to mind Hitler’s conquests! Back cover, red text box: Endless trains of German prisoners of war in Ukraine and in Crimea. These are the lessons of the fights in the south: captured – saved! Reverse side, top line text: Complete collapse of the Army Group South! (top title in large bold font, left side) From the Volga to Romania, from the Caucasus to Czechoslovakia run the endless rows of German soldier’s graves. (text beneath above text, left side) In March 1944 alone, the Red Army defeated 73 German divisions, including 22 tank-divisions, in southern Russia. In April, Hitler’s Crimean troops were shattered. From March 4 to 31, between Lutsk and Chernivtsi, the German’s list of fallen soldiers came to: 184,000 men. (caption to first photo on left) SNIGIREWKA. The newly-positioned 6th Army found their end here. (caption to the middle photo) STALINGRAD. The star of the Hitler Armed Forces went down here. (caption to the last photo on right) Reverse side, bottom line text: The enormous encirclement battle of Stalingrad was only the beginning of the bloody catastrophe that Hitler caused for his whole armed forces. In southern Russia the fate of the Stalingrad army repeated itself: in the surrounding of Korsun (west of Cherkasy) 10 German divisions and 1 brigade perished; surrounding Snigirewka the newly positioned 6th Army found their end; surrounding Skala, ten thousand German soldiers and officers died. (text on left side, between photos) German soldier! Look at the map and ask yourself: Doesn’t the catastrophic collapse of the Army Group South, the unstoppable advance of the Red Army beyond the national borders, mean that Hitler’s criminal war is ultimately lost? The Red Army will defeat Hitler’s armed forces and defeat them again, until their annihilation and capitulation. (middle text, between photos) Resistance is suicide! If you want to save your life, then leave Hitler and surrender your weapons. (text on the far right) Reverse side, bottom line photo captions: SOUTHERN BUH. Twice – once on the advance and now on the retreat – the blood of German soldiers colored the floods red. (caption to first photo on left) UMAN. More than 500 tanks and assault guns were deserted in the panic of fleeing German troops. (caption to middle photo) KORSUN (west of Cherkasy). 10 surrounding German divisions and 1 brigade were annihilated. 2021 © BLAVATNIK ARCHIVE FOUNDATION PG 3/4 BLAVATNIKARCHIVE.ORG DIGITAL COLLECTIONS ITEM TRANSCRIPT "Front-Illustrierte," No. 7 (80), April 1944 ID FRIL.00046 PERMALINK http://n2t.net/ark:/86084/b4dh5s ITEM TYPE SERIAL CITATION MLA Citation information coming soon!
