2019/20 Season Promises to Be Short Track Speed Skating’S Fastest Ever
October 25, 2019 Lausanne, Switzerland 2019/20 season promises to be Short Track Speed Skating’s fastest ever The ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating series gets under way again on November 1, with a thrilling season of racing in prospect. A combination of experienced champions and bright new stars will make up a fascinating field of racers, meaning that predicting a winner in either the men’s or women’s field is extremely tough. Suzanne Schulting of the Netherlands was the standout athlete of last season. The 21-year-old phenomenon came into the season with an Olympic gold medal from PyeongChang 2018 boosting her confidence and looked imperious throughout. At the 2019 ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, she became only the second-ever European victor of the Women’s overall World Championships title in its 44- year history, getting gold in the 1000m and 3000m Super Final to take the title. That achievement followed a season in which Schulting was overall 1000m and 1500m ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating champion – and didn’t lose a single 1000m final that she lined up in. With a bulletproof mentality and improved levels of power, Schulting will surely be in the mix again, batting for podiums in every distance and determined to build a dynasty. Who is most likely to steal her thunder? Choi Min Jeong. The Republic of Korea skater has dominated the sport in recent times, winning three of the four ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships titles prior to Schulting in the past five years. -

The vote was widely regarded as a rubber-stamping exercise. Two delegates voted against the change and three abstained, out of 2,964 votes. China had imposed a two-term limit on its president since the 1990s. But Mr Xi, who would have been due to step down in 2023, defied the tradition of presenting a potential successor during October's Communist Party Congress. Hungary's Liu Brothers Leading the Charge for Honors at ISU European
January 22, 2020 Debrecen, Hungary Hungary’s Liu brothers leading the charge for honors at ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships The 24th ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships take place from January 24-26 in Debrecen, Hungary – and the host nation will have high hopes of winning a clutch of gold medals. Budapest-born brothers Shaolin Sandor and Shaoang Liu have been among Europe’s elite racers for several years and became national heroes two seasons ago when they formed half of the 5000m Men’s Relay team – along with Viktor Knoch and Csaba Burjan – who won gold at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Hungary is a proud Olympic nation, with 178 gold medals in the summer Games – placing it ninth on the overall table – but the team’s heroics in the Republic of Korea led to the nation’s first winter gold. Since then, the siblings have made serious progress individually too: they’ve regularly made podiums on the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating circuit, and Shaolin Sandor was crowned overall ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Champion last season, with Shaoang winning the silver. The duo have already expressed excitement about this competition coming to their homeland and identified Debrecen as the focal point of their season. They’re certainly in suitable form to enter the tournament with real optimism. Shaolin Sandor, 24, won the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating 500m in Montreal earlier this season; Shaoang, 21, took the win in the same distance in Nagoya. In Shanghai, meanwhile, Shaolin Sandor won both 500m gold medals. -

A Fictitious Study on How to Have Your Isbs 200X Paper Accepted
VIRTUAL RECONSTRUCTION KINEMATICS ON THE START ACTION OF ELITE MALE SHORT TRACK SPEED SKATERS UNDER NEW RULES: A COMPARISON ANALYSIS Jihe Zhou1, Shuai Wang2 Chengdu Sport Institute, Chengdu, China1,2 Short track speed skating has been a traditional advantage project of China. In the 500m competition of short track speed skating, occupying a good position in the starting phase has an important influence on the whole process of the competition, which can make the athlete enter the corner in advance and thus successfully complete the acceleration phase. The International Skating Union (ISU) changed the rules of the start action, and various starting actions emerged. The athlete of National Short Track Speed Skating Team named Wu Dajing (Champion of Men’s 500m in 2016/17 Season) changed his technique of start action; he is the only one who use lateral type start action in National Team. This paper used the three-dimensional video analysis method to analyze kinematic parameters of the start action of Wu Dajing and Canadian athlete Charles Hamelin (who has been using the lateral starting action) at the 500m competition of 2016/17 ISU World Cup in Shanghai. The technical parameters of the start action of Wu Dajing (center of gravity, trunk angle, pedal ice angle, lower limb joint angle, etc.) were better than Charles which shows he has a good learning ability of the new technology. It is recommended in training he should focus on improving the stability of start action. KEYWORDS: shock-track speed skating; starting action; visual reality. Sofia Ready for Intriguing Short Track World Championships
March 6, 2019 Sofia, Bulgaria Sofia ready for intriguing Short Track World Championships The ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships – the biggest event on the sport’s calendar – take place at the Arena Armeec, Sofia, Bulgaria, from March 8 to 10. It promises to be a riveting conclusion to a season in which much dynamic new talent has emerged and the greatness of others been confirmed. At the start of the ISU World Cup Short Track season many fans wondered whether the Republic of Korea’s grip on the sport’s top prizes would continue, following an Olympic Games in which challenges from the Netherlands, China, Canada, Poland, Hungary and Italy threatened to break their dominance. The answer has been both yes and no. In the Men’s competition, Korea completed a clean sweep of winners in the individual World Cup classifications, while in the Ladies’ overall, Europeans reigned supreme. Suzanne Schulting has been the standout skater from either gender. In a sport with as many variables as Short Track, she’s been about as dominant during 2018-19as it is possible to be. The Dutch ace owned the 1000m, winning four of seven possible World Cup gold medals to claim the overall title by a mile. She also came out on top in the 1500m overall competition, after winning in both Calgary and Torino. It’ll be surprising if she doesn’t grab top slot in one distance – or both – in Sofia. The 1500m feels like the race where Schulting is more vulnerable. Second in the overall World Cup standings was Kim Ji Yoo (KOR), who has hit form recently and won the 1500m in impressive style in Dresden. -
ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating Rolls Into Montréal This Weekend - and Canada’S Fans of the Sport Have a Lot to Look Forward To
November 6, 2019 Montréal, Canada Canadians look to dominate on home ice The ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating rolls into Montréal this weekend - and Canada’s fans of the sport have a lot to look forward to. Local girl Kim Boutin is in the form of her life. The 24-year-old secured six gold medals at the Canadian Nationals in September and obliterated the 500m World Record last weekend with the first Ladies’ sub 42-second skate at Salt Lake City’s Utah Olympic Oval. The next step for Boutin is to try to skate her way to become the No.1 Ladies’ Short Track Speed Skating athlete – a tough ask, with the likes of Suzanne Schulting (NED) and Choi Min Jeong (KOR) on the circuit. Boutin has already changed her training methods to try to achieve this dream. On home ice this weekend will be a great time to show that she means business. Boutin also won the 1500m gold in Salt Lake City, ahead of ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Champion Schulting, and added Relay bronze – ably supported by her Canada team-mates Claudia Gagnon, Danae Blais and Alyson Charles. Canada’s Men will almost certainly be in contention this weekend, too. In Charles Hamelin they have a legendary racer who can still threaten podiums, while 22-year-old Steven Dubois looks like the country’s future. Dubois, like Boutin, took six golds at the Canadian Short Track Speed Skating Championships, and should feel confident rolling that form into Montréal’s Maurice-Richard arena. -

January 25, 2020 Debrecen, Hungary Unstoppable Schulting takes milestone 500m title as Liu brothers thrill home crowd Suzanne Schulting (NED) dominated the first day of finals at the 2020 European Short Track Championships in Debrecen (HUN), defending her European 1500m title and leading the 500m final from start to finish, while Hungary's own Liu brothers won a gold each in the two men's events. Dutch world No.1 Schulting has topped the podium at Olympic Games, World Championships and World Cups, and came to Hungary as the reigning European overall champion, but won a milestone career-first international 500m gold medal as she beat Italy’s Martina Valcepina and Natalia Maliszewska (POL) in the final. ”It’s really special,” the 22-year-old said. ”Normally it’s the 1000m and 1500m that I win and I usually just skate the 500m in tournaments like the Europeans and the Worlds, or in the World Cups just to keep it up, so I’m really happy with this. ”I was skating against the top of the world. Natalia, Lara (compatriot Van Ruijven, who finished fourth) and Martina are so, so good and always skating a finals in this distance, so I’m just really happy with that. ”It was the highlight of the day.” Maliszewska showed no sadness over having to settle for bronze in losing the title she won last year to the dominant Dutch skater. ”I’m almost crying so I’m very happy with this,” she said. ”I’m coming home with a European bronze medal so it matters a lot.
