All Nippon Airways and Intercontinental Hotels Group ANNOUNCE JOINT VENTURE to CREATE JAPAN’S LEADING HOTEL GROUP Japan National Tourist Organization Contact: Marian Goldberg www.jnto.go.jp/ & www.japantravelinfo.com mgoldberg@jntonyc.org, 212-757-5641 x16 One Rockefeller Plaza, Suite 1250, New York, NY 10020 For Immediate Release All Nippon Airways and InterContinental Hotels Group ANNOUNCE JOINT VENTURE TO CREATE JAPAN’S LEADING HOTEL GROUP TOKYO, Japan, November 23, 2006 – ANA (All Nippon Airways) and InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) signed a hotel operating joint venture to create what could be the biggest hotel operator in Japan, the world’s second largest hotel market in terms of number of rooms. The joint venture – to be named IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan – will officially commence on December 1, 2006. Britain’s IHG, which said it will invest $15 million for a majority stake in the joint venture, was selected as ANA’s partner after a highly competitive process. The strength of IHG’s family of brands, robust growth pipeline, international outlook and established operating systems made it the preferred partner for ANA, while ANA’s reputation for high quality standards and service made it an attractive partner for IHG. Both companies share corporate values and strategic objectives. ANA will sign new management contracts with IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan for its 13 owned and leased hotels (4,943 rooms). These hotels will, gradually over an 18 month period beginning in April 2007, be re-branded to one of the three co-brands created for Japan – ANA- InterContinental, ANA-Crowne Plaza and ANA-Holiday Inn. The flagship ANA Hotel Tokyo will be the first to be co-branded on April 1, 2007 as the ANA-InterContinental Tokyo. In addition, the joint venture will continue to operate ANA Hotels & Resorts’ other 18 hotels (4,127 rooms) under management contracts, franchise agreements and marketing referral agreements for third party owners, who will also be offered the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of co-branding. IHG currently operates 11 hotels in Japan (3,100 rooms), which, combined with IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan’s 31 hotels, gives a combined estate of 42 hotels with more than 12,000 rooms. 1 ANA Hotels & Resorts’ 500,000 ANA Hotel Members will be given the opportunity to become members of IHG’s Priority Club Rewards, which is the world’s largest hotel loyalty program with more than 28 million members worldwide. In addition, ANA will sign up as a Priority Club Rewards’ global airline partner. Effective November 1, ANA Mileage Club members will be able to start earning air miles when staying at IHG hotels worldwide. As summarized by ANA President, Mr. Mineo Yamamoto, “The joint venture is a superb platform from which to strengthen our hotel business, grow the co-brands and develop our people, in order to benefit our guests, our shareholders, our employees and our business partners in Japan. ANA and IHG look forward to building a successful long term partnership and exploring opportunities for other strategic alliances.” The excitement is further corroborated by Mr. Hisataka Hiragochi, Executive Director of the Japan National Tourist Organization (JNTO) for the Americas. He noted, “This ANA-IHG joint venture is also thrilling for the JNTO, as it will serve to further promote Japan as a travel destination to the InterContinental Hotel Group’s global network, via IHG’s strong positive brand recognition and its industry-leading hotel operating systems.” The Japan National Tourist Organization, the tourism promotion board for the country of Japan, as a key member of the Visit Japan Campaign, is a public-private partnership under the auspices of Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, with the mission to encourage and promote international travel to Japan and support Japanese travel suppliers. • ACCC Proposes to Deny Qantas/JAL Coordination Proposalopens in A
MEDIA RELEASE 6 May 2021 ACCC proposes to deny Qantas/Japan Airlines coordination proposal The ACCC is proposing to deny authorisation for Qantas (ASX:QAN) and Japan Airlines to coordinate flights between Australia and Japan for three years under a proposed five year joint business agreement. “An agreement for coordination between two key competitors breaches competition laws. The ACCC can only authorise these agreements if the public benefits from the coordination outweigh the harm to competition,” ACCC Chair Rod Sims said. “At this stage we do not consider that Qantas and Japan Airlines’ proposal passes that test.” Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Qantas and Japan Airlines were the only two airlines offering direct flights between Melbourne and Tokyo. They were also two of only three airlines, the other being All Nippon Airways, offering direct flights between Sydney and Tokyo. “The airline and tourism sectors have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Protecting competition in the airline industry is critical to ensuring recovery in the tourism sector, once international travel restrictions ease,” Mr Sims said. “This proposed coordination would appear to undermine competition significantly by reducing the prospect of a strong return to competition on the Melbourne – Tokyo and Sydney – Tokyo routes when international travel resumes.” “Granting this authorisation would seem to eliminate any prospect of Qantas and Japan Airlines competing for passengers travelling between Australia and Japan, as they did before the COVID-19 pandemic. This elimination of competition would benefit the airlines at the expense of consumers,” Mr Sims said. The ACCC considers that Qantas and Japan Airlines combining their operations would also make it more difficult for another airline to seek to launch flights on these routes.

Press release Tokyo/Frankfurt, 4 December 2014 ANA and Lufthansa Cargo successfully launch air cargo joint venture Customers gain benefit of enlarged network All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japans largest airline, and Lufthansa Cargo AG, one of the world´s leading air cargo carriers, have launched an innovative air cargo joint venture on Japan-Europe routes. Since 1 December, both airlines have commenced joint sales of shipments on flights from Japan to Europe. On 2 December the first shipment sent by forwarder Schenker-Seino Co. Ltd and booked via Lufthansa Cargo was transported by ANA on flight number NH 277 from Tokyo to London. It consisted of three pieces of general cargo and weighed 153 kilograms. Due to the direct flight of ANA between the two cities, the customer was now able to take receipt of his shipment approximately 16 hours earlier than by choosing the transfer connection via Frankfurt. On the same day the Lufthansa Cargo freighter flight LH 8385 carried the first shipment booked through ANA. The load weighed 1.8 tonnes. By accessing cargo capacities on freighter aircraft, it is now possible for ANA customers to send big volume freight and cargo that may only be transported on freighters, directly from Tokyo to Frankfurt. The joint venture benefits customers by providing a larger and faster network with more direct flights, more destinations and more frequencies. By moving under one roof at major stations, such as the airports Narita and Nagoya in Japan and Dusseldorf and Frankfurt in Germany, customers can enjoy the services of both airlines at a single location.

J.D. Power Asia Pacific Reports: Hotel Staff and Services Improve Guest Satisfaction The Ritz-Carlton, Fujiya Hotel, JR Kyushu Hotel and Super Hotel Rank Highest in Hotel Satisfaction in Their Respective Segments TOKYO: 26 November 2014 — Enhancement of guest services and staff attentiveness increase guest satisfaction and their intent to stay at that hotel again, according to the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2014 Japan Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index StudySM released today. The study, now in its ninth year, measures hotel guest satisfaction across seven factors: reservations; check-in/ check-out; guest rooms; food and beverage1; hotel services; hotel facilities; and cost and fees. Hotels are evaluated in four segments, which are based on the room rate per night and guest room size. The study finds that overall guest satisfaction is 40 points higher (on a 1,000-point scale) among guests who used a hotel service such as the fitness or bath facilities, laundry service, in-room service or Internet access than among guests who did not use a hotel service. Overall satisfaction is 70 points higher among guests who used multiple services. In addition, overall satisfaction among guests who have interaction with the hotel staff during their stay, such as a greeting from the housekeeping staff or a restaurant server is more than 50 points higher for high-price hotels (727 vs. 654) and more than 30 points higher for low-price hotels (642 vs. 592) than among guests who have no interaction with the hotel staff during their stay. Furthermore, satisfaction increased by an additional 50 points when guests indicated that the hotel staff “always smiled.” “Many hotel chains have made long-term investments to improve their properties, and are benefitting from increased satisfaction when their guests utilize their services,” said Chie Numanami, senior manager at J.D.
