EDMONTON (December 20, 2018) – Super Channel is pleased to announce that the three-part limited series, , based on Louisa May Alcott’s universally beloved novel, will make its Canadian broadcast premiere on Sunday, January 27 at 8 p.m. ET (SC Heart & Home). Each hour-long episode will also be available to viewers on Super Channel On Demand the day following its linear broadcast.

Based on Louisa May Alcott’s universally beloved novel, Little Women is a three-hour adaptation from the award-winning creator of Call The Midwife, Heidi Thomas, and directed by Vanessa Caswill (Thirteen). Set against the backdrop of a country divided, the story follows the four March sisters: Meg (Willa Fitzgerald), Jo (Maya Hawke), Beth (Annes Elwy), and Amy (Kathryn Newton) on their journey from childhood to adulthood while their father (Dylan Baker) is away at war.

Academy Award® nominee Emily Watson (Apple Tree Yard, The Theory Of Everything, Genius) stars as Marmee, the iconic matriarch of the March family and Academy Award® winner Angela Lansbury (Murder, She Wrote, The Manchurian Candidate) stars as the girls’ wealthy relative - the cantankerous Aunt March. Michael Gambon (Harry Potter, Churchill’s Secret) plays their benevolent neighbour Mr. Laurence, and Jonah Hauer-King (Howards End, The Last Photograph) is his grandson Laurie Laurence, the charming boy next door. Under the guidance of their mother Marmee, the girls navigate what it means to be a young woman: from gender roles to sibling rivalry, first love, loss and marriage. Little Women is a coming-of-age story that is as relevant and engaging today as it was on its original publication in 1868.

Little Women is a co-production between Playground (Wolf Hall, Howards End) for BBC One in the UK and Masterpiece on PBS. The producer is Susie Liggat. Executive producers are Colin Callender and Sophie Gardiner for Playground, Heidi Thomas, Lucy Richer for the BBC and Rebecca Eaton for Masterpiece.
