hospitality asia ~ December-February 2011 Page IFC C M Y K hospitality asia ~ December-February 2011 Page 1 C M Y K NOTE PUBLISHER’S NEW HORIZONS NEW CHALLENGES The only constant thing in life is change. How individuals and corporations accept change say a lot about them. Hospitality Asia has been a business trade magazine for 16 years. However, as we start to include a lot more travel related content, we see ourselves moving into a bigger audience sphere. As such, we are making sure that we expand our content along with our readers’ expectations. Expect to see new editorial sections and new designs in the magazine, with a more lifestyle approach to the way we present our articles and interviews. We’ve also become a more travelled group, with the team opening new markets in Koh Samui, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh in this quarter alone. With Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Bintan and Manila to come, you can be sure that you’ll be finding out a lot more about these countries and their hospitality gems. As we close the chapter for the Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards (HAPA) Malaysia Series 2010-2012 by publishing a winners’ supplement in this issue, we will embark on a new chapter for Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards (HAPA) Regional Series 2011-2013, whereby our team has already begun visiting nominees in Bali, Jakarta, Bangkok, Phuket and Singapore. This will be a very challenging series as there will be a total of six countries vying for hospitality supremacy. The HAPA Committee has chosen Singapore as the host venue for the upcoming Regional series. Next year will also be HAPA’s 10th anniversary, which we will be celebrating at HAPA Regional. Following HAPA Regional Series 2011-2013, a special coffee table book will be produced to honour the winners, finalists, nominees, judges and sponsors of the past 10 years. Now that’s certainly worth looking out for! Now that HAPA Malaysia Series 2010-2012 is over, I sincerely urge all establishments to nominate your star personalities and properties for HAPA Regional Series 2011-2013. My home country has many wonderful hospitality experiences to offer, and many more milestones to mark, and I believe that it will be able to perform and compete on a regional level as well as it has on the domestic front. Enough retrospectives though – good things always come to the ones who look forward, and my team and I are looking forward with a lot of hope in our hearts and full wind in our sails.
