The goal of this dissertation is to investigate the relationships between trauma, memory, fantasy and narrative in a close reading/viewing of different forms of Jewish life-writing and documentary film by means of a scientifically informed approach to childhood trauma. Chapter 1 discusses the reception of Binjamin Wilkomirski’s Fragments (1994), which was hailed as a paradigmatic traumatic narrative written by a child survivor before it was discovered to be a fictional text based on the author’s invented Jewish life-story.

These activities are part of the Institute’s year-round Creative Producing Initiative, which encompasses a series of Labs, Fellowships and other events that support independent producers. Eleven projects will participate in the Labs (July 29 – August 2), where they will work with an accomplished group of Creative Advisors to advance their creative, communication and problem-solving skills in all stages of a film’s journey from script development to distribution. These Producing Fellows will also receive ongoing creative and strategic support throughout the year, as well as direct granting for further development and production. This year’s Fellows represent eleven projects identified by the Institute’s Feature Film Program and Documentary Film Program and Fund. Immediately following the Labs, the Summit (August 2-4) takes place. The Summit is an invitation-only gathering that connects 42 producers and directors, including the Producing Fellows, with more than 40 top independent film industry leaders for three days of case study sessions, panels, roundtable discussions, one-on-one meetings and pitching sessions.     CRANKING UP ‘THE AMP’ BY LISA WHITE UPGRADES, REBRANDING DESIGNED TO FURTHER HEIGHTEN PROFILE OF ST. AUGUSTINE AMPHITHEATRE AND PONTE VEDRA CONCERT HALL . Amphitheatre kicked o its main-stage concert season March 1 with a sold-out show by Alabama, guests at the Florida venue couldn’t help but notice the changes. The 4,000-seat facility had been expanded by 700 seats, and a new food truck area provided fresh local options beyond the traditional concession stands. “We sell out a lot of our shows quickly, so we knew the demand was Athere and the ability to bring in bigger acts,” said Gabe Pellicer, assistant director of the venue and the adjacent Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, about the new seats. “We knew we had a lot of momentum, so we went for it.” The changes coincide with a rebranding for what’s now being called The Amp St. Augustine, including new graphics and brand colors and a fresh tagline — “Big Acts, Small Venue” — that echoes Pellicer’s words. The rebranding eorts are among a continuing eort to create a nationally known venue in a small market. “We felt like we ran into a fork in the road,” Pellicer said. “Do we create more revenue, more shows or a better experience? We’re a government-run venue that doesn’t have to chase prots, so we decided to make it the best we possibly could.” Owned and operated by the cultural events division of St. Johns County, The Amp hosts over 40 concerts and multiple community events annually, including the Saturday Farmers Market, held year-round, and the Sing Out Loud Festival, Florida’s largest free live entertainment festival and benet, held every weekend in September.
