London Borough of Waltham Forest Family Information Service Holiday Scheme List 020 8496 3000 / 020 8496 1235 Choosing a Holiday Scheme School aged children need safe care during the school holidays, right through primary education and often into the first couple of years at secondary school. There are now increasing numbers of holiday schemes that are based at schools, youth or community centres. Choosing childcare is a big step for you and your child. Ask about opening hours, price, and age of children and if there is a space for your child. It can be a good idea to take your child with you to see how the staff interact with children. Try to go when children are there so you can see if they are calm, happy and busy. WHAT TO ASK Here are some suggested questions to ask when you visit. Add your own questions as well: 1. How long have you been working with children? 2. Does the setting have a safeguarding policy? 3. Have you undertaken any training for your job? Any qualification? 4. Do you enjoy being with children and why? 5. Can I look around the building to see the rooms and outside play space? If there is no outside play space - how will you make sure my child gets the chance to play outside? 6. Where will my child rest? 7. What kind of food and drink will you give? 8. What will my child do all day? 9. How do you encourage good behaviour? 10. Will my child be with a regular group of children? 11.

  • This Branch Is Closing – but We're Still Here to Help
This branch is closing – but we're still here to help Our North Chingford branch is closing on Friday 5 June 2020 Reasons for closure, and alternative ways to bank This branch is closing – but your bank is always open This first booklet will help you understand why we’ve made the decision to close this branch. It also sets out the banking services and support that will be available to you after this branch has closed. In a second booklet, which will be available from the branch prior to it closing or online at home.barclays/ukbranchclosures, we'll share concerns and feedback from the local community. We'll also detail how we are helping people transition from using the branch with alternative ways to carry out their banking requirements. Here are the main reasons why the North Chingford branch is closing: • The number of transactions has gone down in the previous 24 months, and additionally 86% of our branch customers also use other ways to do their banking such as online and by telephone. • Customers using other ways to do their banking has increased by 24% since 2012. • In the past 12 months, 55% of this branch's customers have been using neighbouring branches. • We've identified that only 105 customers use this branch exclusively for their banking Proposals to close any branch are made by the Barclays local leadership teams and verified at a national level ahead of any closure announcement. If you have any questions and concerns about these changes then please feel free to get in touch with Jon Clowes, your Market Director for Local East.

TRANSFORMING UNLOVED SPACES: SITE INFORMATION delivered in partnership with Making Places | makingplaces.co.uk CONTENTS SITE BRIEFS - Abbotts Park Albert Crescent Aldriche Way Attlee Terrace Blackhorse road Brierley Road Chef’s Corner Greenleaf Road Higham Hill Park Lea Bridge Library Low Hall Sports Ground North Chingford Library Ridgeway Park The Highams Park The Linear Park Making Places | makingplaces.co.uk TRANSFORMING UNLOVED SPACES: SITE BRIEF ABBOTTS PARK, E10 6XH Making Places | makingplaces.co.uk ABBOTTS DESCRIPTION OF SITE The seating area in Abbotts Park is on the Leigh Road side, next to a PARK, FOREST children’s play area. There are currently a number of concrete picnic benches WARD under some large trees. WHY THIS SITE? Abbots Park is a well-used park. Families and young people as well as nurseries and schools in the area visit regularly and use the play spaces and outdoor gym. It is seen as a community hub with potential for people to socialise and for children and families to play. The current seating area inside the park looks tired and uninviting. The trees block a lot of light, meaning that the grass is patchy and not much else has grown in the area. The seating area is an important aspect to get right if people are to spend more time in the park and so it is an ideal space for transformation. SUGGESTIONS FOR APPROACHES The space would need to remain a picnic seating area, however we would welcome ideas for additional structures and interventions that will make the area more inviting and family friendly.
