Harrison Ave; E-I-94 Freeway; W-S. 16th St SOUTH SIDELincoln Village NEIGHBORHOOD DESCRIPTION Lincoln Village is a residential neighborhood with modest homes and strong commercial corridors along West Lincoln Avenue, South 6th Street, and South 16th Street. It is rare to see a commercial building unoccupied and vacant lots simply do not exist in the business district. The corridors truly house “mom and pop” shops. The stores Todays neighborhood- The Basilica of St. Josaphat are small by comparison to other neighborhoods, and tend to have long-term occupants. There are nearly 20 ethnic restaurants or delis along these blocks, representing Mexican, Salvadoran, Serbian, and Polish food. Two architectural styles are of note in Lincoln Village. One style is commercial, where walls extend above the roof of the buildings and are called parapets (see photos below). These can be angular or curved, and represent an architectural style that was brought from northern Poland to the neighbor- hood. The style had originally been developed by the Danes, then brought to Germany, and the Germans erected buildings with parapets in northern Poland. The other architecture style of note is residential, and is called the “Polish flat.” This developed at the grassroots. Most Poles who arrived in Milwaukee were intent on home and land ownership. Often their first paychecks went toward purchasing narrow lots where they would build three to four room cottages. However, as families grew and more relatives arrived, the homeowners lacked space on the lots to enlarge the homes. Often they raised the cottages and replaced the wood foundations with brick or cement block. -

Mira Stupica pamti jedno štrkljasto i visoko dete, krakato, okato, nosato i pomalo dremljivo, koje je kapke imalo uvek napola spuštene, kao roletne. I u sećanju Aleksandra–Luja Todorovića javlja se u istoj slici: visok, štrkljast, šiljat, neopisivo mršav. Vojislavu Kostiću je, tako visok i mršav, sa šišanom bradom, ličio na Don Kihota. Ivana Dimić je imala dvanaest godina kad ga je prvi put videla, na slavi na koju je došla s roditeljima. Među gostima se izdvajao visok, mršav, duhovit čovek koji je psovao. Ogroman, tamnog lica i brade, izgledao joj je kao neki Azijat. Aleksandar–Saša Gruden seća ga se kao klinca koji je s majkom došao kod očeve rodbine u Užice. Prilog opštem utisku: štkljast, nosat, s ogromnim kolenima. Kad su ga upitali kako je, odgovorio je: »Zaštopal mi se nosek.« Posle je objašnjavao da je imao jezički problem: »Govorio sam hrvatski.« Dolasku u Užice 1941. godine prethodi prva velika životna avantura. Od ranih dana naučio je da svet i ljude vidi u slikama. U slikama Zadra, u koji se porodica 1939. seli iz Zagreba, kada je otac Sreten postavljen za vicekonzula Kraljevskog konzulata, prelamaju se, između ostalih, prizori ogromnog stana u kome, po jednom dugačkom hodniku, vozi bicikl. -

The country caught my interest and I have been going back there every year since. This is why the decision to focus on Kosovo for my research was quickly made. As a tourist, you stand out, because there are not many there. I have seen the beautiful and positive sides of Kosovo but at the same time I have noticed how the country, years after the war, still has a long way to go. With my research, I want to give a helping hand and combine tourism with the development of the country and dealing with the war history. I have written this thesis for my master’s degree in Human Geography: Cultural Geography & Tourism at the Radboud University, Nijmegen. I went to stay in the capital of Kosovo, Pristina, for three months and experienced what it is like to live there instead of just being a tourist. I hope this thesis can be of value to the person reading it. Obaid Assistant Lecturer in Nawroz University, Duhok, Iraq [email protected] Abstract Multiperspectivity, sometimes also referred to as multiple narrators, is a narrative technique or mode of narration commonly employed in modern and postmodern novels. This innovative literary phenomenon has been of high interest to ingenious writers of 20th and 21st centuries, due to its prodigious deviation in the narrative text. The question of multiple narrators has created several controversies among literary critics as it distinguishes itself from traditional techniques of narration and other narratological concepts. William Faulkner in As I Lay Dying (1930) and Orhan Pamuk in My Name is Red (1998) have employed multiple narrators for discrepant purposes and functions. Both novels are similarly divided into fifty-nine chapters; As I Lay Dying involves fifteen narrators from the Bundren family as well as other villagers. My Name is Red covers twenty-one voices ranging from human to the dead and inanimate objects. The two novels coincidentally share several landscapes regarding the narrative technique and overall structure along with some disparate features, which are analytically discussed in the present paper. This paper attempts to spot the purposes and implications of Faulkner and Pamuk in employing multiple narrators in their novels, As I Lay Dying and My Name is Red, successively, by analyzing multiperspectivity as a narrative technique and its potential effects on the structure of the story as well as on the reader. -

Inspired by John I Goodlad‘s notions of curricula and implementation, the formu- lation of history is studied. The ideological curricula are analyzed via the internation- al guidelines directed to Swedish history teaching. The formal curricula are examined in national guidelines and also how history is formulated in final examinations and inspectors‘ reports. The perceived curricula are studied in teachers‘ debates and in- terviews with experienced teachers. The experiential curricula are examined through looking at students‘ choices of topics in final exams, 1,680 titles of students‘ individu- al projects in history and an in-depth analysis of 145 individual projects written be- tween 1969 and 2002. The study shows that the means and goals of history education have been formu- lated in both different and similar ways within and between curricular levels. -

Summary of Sexual Abuse Claims in Chapter 11 Cases of Boy Scouts of America There are approximately 101,135sexual abuse claims filed. Of those claims, the Tort Claimants’ Committee estimates that there are approximately 83,807 unique claims if the amended and superseded and multiple claims filed on account of the same survivor are removed. The summary of sexual abuse claims below uses the set of 83,807 of claim for purposes of claims summary below.1 The Tort Claimants’ Committee has broken down the sexual abuse claims in various categories for the purpose of disclosing where and when the sexual abuse claims arose and the identity of certain of the parties that are implicated in the alleged sexual abuse. Attached hereto as Exhibit 1 is a chart that shows the sexual abuse claims broken down by the year in which they first arose. Please note that there approximately 10,500 claims did not provide a date for when the sexual abuse occurred. As a result, those claims have not been assigned a year in which the abuse first arose. Attached hereto as Exhibit 2 is a chart that shows the claims broken down by the state or jurisdiction in which they arose. Please note there are approximately 7,186 claims that did not provide a location of abuse. Those claims are reflected by YY or ZZ in the codes used to identify the applicable state or jurisdiction. Those claims have not been assigned a state or other jurisdiction. Attached hereto as Exhibit 3 is a chart that shows the claims broken down by the Local Council implicated in the sexual abuse. -
