The exclusive Record Store Day Edition pressed on WHITE 180g vinyl comes in brand new artwork in a gatefold sleeve with new sleeve notes contributed by Ken Hunt. Originally recorded in 1973 the album, but didn’t see the light of day till many years later in 1997. Anne had been pregnant and the recordings were made a few weeks before the birth of her second child and consequently the released was held back due to Anne unhappiness with her singing at the time. Anne recalls “ I Found the singing unsatisfactory. Indeed it was hard work at the time being so pregnant - hard to find sufficient breadth, and hard to play the bouzouki, with its’ convex bellied back pressing into my convex bellied front, my arms seemed barely long enough to reach over to the strings and fingerboard”. The album was originally released by Fledg’ling Briggs, Anne Sing A Song For You (LP) (White Vinyl) (RSD2018) Records and is the only instance of Anne recording together with a band. The band was a short Vinyl LP 1 lived outfit Ragged Robin put together by folk musician and singer songwriter Steve Ashley with Richard Byers, Brain Diprose and John Thompson. Considered by many as ‘a one of folks lost gems’ Anne has influenced many of todays contemporary folk musicians, including Eliza Carthy and June Tabor. Bert Jansch, whom she lived with for a while in a squat in Londons Earls Court , described her a ‘one of the most underrated singers’. He recorded many of her songs on his albums and she was his source for several of the traditional songs which he recorded, notably ‘Blackwaterslide’ which Anne taught him. The instrumental part was later copied and adapted by Led Zepplins Jimmy Page who recorded it as ‘Black Mountain Side’. Alongside their Record Store Day “Remix” EP, French psychedelic band The Limiñanas presents a very limited 7” vinyl. The side A features the hit single ‘Dimanche (feat. Ashore is a collection of songs concerning humankind’s relationship with the sea and on release the album was hailed by critics and fans alike as another career highpoint. Tabor, June Ashore (2LP) (White Vinyl) (RSD2018) This powerful set of contemporary songs alongside classic traditional ballads like ‘The Bleacher Vinyl LP 2 Lassie Of Kelvinhaugh’ and ‘The Great Selkie Of Sule Skerry’ see June give a spinetingling performance of the Elvis Costello classic ‘Shipbuilding’ and a new recording of Oysterbands Ian Telfers ‘Finisterre’. This featured on Freedom and Rain the album June recorded with Oysterband. June also covers two songs from the pen of Cyril Tawney ‘The Grey Funnel Line’ and The Oggie Man’ both remarkable interpretations. DJ Shadow, Thom Yorke, Richard Ashcroft, Massive Attack, Ian Brown – sie alle waren Teil jenes Musik-, Kunst-, und Street-Art-Imperiums, das Lavelle schon zu Beginn der Neunziger unter UNKLE Live On The Road: Koko (2CD) dem Namen Mo’ Wax ins Leben gerufen hatte (und aus dem wenig später auch sein UNKLE- CD 2 Projekt hervorgehen sollte). Einer der stilsichersten A&Rs jener Tage, war bei seinem Label alles von Doc Octagon bis Money Mark, von Tommy Guerrero bis Blackalicious, von DJ Krush bis Liquid Liquid, von Axelrod bis DJ Shadow beheimatet. 1998 legte Lavelle dann mit „Psyence Fiction“ das erste Album unter dem Projektnamen UNKLE vor – ein Sample- und Referenz- Rundumschlag, der es sogar in die UK-Top-5 schaffen sollte. Und alle oben Genannten waren mit von der Partiet. Das fünfte Studioalbum "The Road" zeigt UNKLE weiter als weniger elektronische und mehr instrumentenbasierte Liveband incl Streichern und allem Drum und dran. These men’s positioning becomes particularly notable during an era documented as a time of crippling emas- culation for Asian American men.

He was the NCAA Faculty singles in 1993 and 1994. She played number-one and won the regional Amateur Athletic Association Athletic Representative from 1983 to 2006 and was singles all four seasons, winning North Central Middleweight Boxing Championship in 1934-35. He also the interim Athletic Director in 2004. During his Conference titles in both singles and doubles all went on to coach football at the Colorado School time as FAR he served on the NCAA Financial Aid and four years. In 1992, she was the recipient of the ITA of Mines from 1947-69 and was the Orediggers Amateurism Committee, was President of the North Arthur Ashe Collegiate Award for Leadership and Director of Athletics from 1947-76. He was inducted Central Conference in 1986 and 1996 and was chair of Sportsmanship in NCAA Division II.

Moore Alison Stine’s Rust Belt Blues is a book-length work of linked creative nonfiction essays set in former manufacturing towns in Ohio, Indiana, and upstate New York. In pieces that range from autobiography to literary journalism, she focuses on abandoned places and people in the area known as the Rust Belt—a section of ex-industrial centers stretching from New York to Chicago—covering such topics as feral houses, graffiti, and the blues. She researches the Westinghouse factory that once employed a third of her hometown, explores a shuttered amusement park, re-visits a neglected asylum, and writes of rural poverty. In her critical introduction “The Abandoned Houses are All of Us: Toward a Rust Belt Persona,” Stine examines the work of contemporary nonfiction writers born in and / or concerned with the Rust Belt, finding that their work shares traits of deflection, obsession, lying, dark subject matter, and stubborn optimism—what she calls the defining characteristics of the emerging Rust Belt persona.

Anyway, it’s finally time for us to savor two more blasts of Jeannette the King’s power-pop magic—the title track roars and purrs with a growling guitar and sultry vocals, the classic CHUBBIES formula. It’s very fine! We all know that female-fronted power pop is outside of Maximum Rocknroll’s area of coverage these days (whereas boys can go as wussy as they wanna and still draw a review!) but that doesn’t mean you should be ignoring this sub-genre of the pop-punk world or this band in particular. Jeannette Chubbie simply must be counted among the relatively small number of first rank songwriters of the current period. She is that talented! While Jeannette’s guitar work punches hard, The King’s lyrics tend towards the smart and artistic. I’d no sooner give you my detailed interpretation of her work than I would give you my inter- pretation of collage art by Winston Smith or a Sue Coe painting. Listen and derive your own meaning. I will say in general terms that the A-side deals with angst and expectations from a female perspective and the flipside, a song called “Pseudo-Christ,” is an understated howl of anti-religious fury and artis- tic hope.

It looks swell and you get four little band photos inside along with my typical yeoman’s output of typos, so dry your little traditionalist eyes. Four bands for five bucks on two slabs of wonderful blue wax. THE FRATELLI’S are on side F, this is their first release ever. They’re four guys from Michigan and they deliver two uptempo, peppy, happy sounding cuts. “Nobody Likes Me Again” is the hit, an anthem for unpopular kids everywhere. THE FRATELLI’S fit into the puzzle next to bands like CARTER PEACE MISSION and THE KLOPECS, combining buzzing guitars and a warm, fuzzy ambiance with enough guitar grit to slide into the pages of Maximum Rocknroll. An excellent pop-punk band, I hope this is just the first of a series of FRATELLI’S stuff. Backing side F is side S. The big S stands for SPODIE and you certainly must know them by now. Their self-released “Pop Punk-a-Go Go” EP blows the doors off, their new split EP with PINCUSHION adds to their growing legacy. SPODIE is definitely the hardest of the four bands involved in this project, chas- ing it with two true-to-life relationship songs.
