We evaluated the research using phytogeographic analysis with an emphasis on selected ecological environmental factors (substrate: ecological land unit value, soil reaction (pH), terrain: slope (◦), flow and hydrogeological productivity (m2.s−1) and average annual amounts of global radiation (kWh.m–2). A total of 19 species were found in the area, of which the majority were Cephalenthera longifolia, Cephalenthera damasonium and Anacamptis morio. Rare findings included Epipactis muelleri, Epipactis leptochila and Limodorum abortivum. We determined the ecological demands of the abiotic environment of individual species by means of a functional analysis of communities. The research confirmed that most of the orchids that were studied occurred in acidified, calcified and basophil locations. From the location of the distribution of individual populations, it is clear that they are generally arranged compactly and occasionally scattered, which results in ecological and environmental diversity. Discovery of Epipactis microphylla (Orchidaceae) in Djebel Babor (north-eastern Algeria), a new orchid for North Africa. — Epipactis microphylla is a European-Hyrcanian, forest myco- heterotrophic species, widespread in temperate and submeridional zones, from Andalusia to the Caspian Sea. This orchid has been discovered in Djebel Babor, in northeastern Algeria, in a mixed undergrowth of Cedars, Zean oaks and Holm oaks, where it is to date the only known resort in North Africa. This discovery confirms the interest of Babors’ Kabylia in general and the new Babor-Tababort National Park in particular. It shows closer relationships mainly with E. distans, species widespread in northern Mediterranean territory from SE Spain to N Croazia and also some Central and Northern Eu- ropean territory, with an isolated population in N Calabria. Numerous morphological features, as well as ecological require- ment and phenology allow to distinguish very well the two taxa at specific level. Besides, the conservation status, habitat and a distribution map of this new species are presented. Previously in this area only E. microphylla (Ehrhart 1789: 42) Swartz (1800: 232) was recorded by Gussone (1844–45), Bartolo & Pulvirenti (1997, 2005), Minissale et al. However other sources were also used. The use of multiple sources increased the number of books which are listed but may have introduced errors or imperfections for following reasons. One and the same book may have been listed under different names erroneously. Names of authors may have been misspelled. When books have more than one author, the order of authors may have been presented differently in different lists and/or one or more names may have been omitted, added or misspelled. A book may have been published under different names in more than one country. Books are sometimes published by one publisher in one country and another in a different one. Pollination crisis (the decline of pollinator populations) is a global phenomenon which threatens biodiversity, human welfare and economy. The degree to which different plant populations/species are affected by pollination crisis is still unclear. In this study, long-term herbarium dataset was used to quantify the reproduction rate of Hungarian orchids between 1853 and 2008. We quantified fruit-set rate of 663 specimens belonging to 27 species. Data were available from an average of 10.3±9.3 localities, 76.5±43.2 years, and 23.4±25.6 specimens per species. -

Scientific elaboration on this topic still lacks a comprehensive review and summary of the scale of this phenomenon. Therefore, the main aim of this study was to gather, review and analyse such data, seeking the answer to the question whether the man-made habitats can be considered as refugee for orchids. The paper summarises data on the occurrence of orchid species in man-made habitats in Europe originating from published and unpublished sources. The particular emphasis was placed in urban habitats. -
