2 The Bug Club Family

Bug Club Guided Reading is centred around books your children want to read. Time saving guided reading cards accompany each of the books and cover multiple sessions that go into depth with each text. These focus on questions that will challenge and grow your children’s comprehension skills. There are also ac- companying photocopiable activities to support each title and extend learning.

Bug Club ndependent is an independent reading solution that encourages readers to read at home; over 300 ad- ditional fiction and non-fiction print books, comics, and graphic novels alongside an online reading world.

Bug Club Shared is a new primary reading scheme that uses 36 high-quality books, designed to be read out loud, to encourage excitement around reading for pleasure. With a structured, systematic approach to vocabulary progression, these beautifully illustrat- ed books introduce children to rich and challenging words from other subject areas that enable them to make cross-curricular links in their learning. It is the winner in the 2020 Teach Primary Awards English category.

Conceived and edited by Julia Donaldson the 48 Plays to Read (specially written by Julia and other top children’s authors) each have parts for 6 characters, so are ideal for reading in group. After an initial read-through the children can swap parts round and then perform a rehearsed reading to the rest of the group.
