Unofficial Summary of 6-6-20 SHHA Board of Directors Meeting

• Property Management: Hershal has met with Lange Investigations regarding beach security. The garage has been cleaned out thanks to Steve Foertsch, Sue Johnson and Ray Fitzgerald. Beach flag stickers and parking tags have been mailed or placed in hanging folders. • Roads: Many potholes have been filled. Our contractor will return to reevaluate. Lindbergh Bridge will cleaned on 6/13, thanks to Ralph Grandle and others. The Wightman Engineering report on the roads has been studied and will be discussed at the annual meeting and more fully at special meeting next spring. • Zoning: Several construction projects are expected to be complete in the fall. A variance was granted for a new home at Orchard and Baldwin. Additional new homes are expected to be built on empty lots in the next few years. Members must comply with Chikaming and EGLE permitting procedures. • Property: The community house, garage and front entrances have been cleaned and refreshed. The front signs have been repainted thanks to Bob Miller. • Playground: Bee houses will be purchased to deal with the carpenter bees. • Real Estate: A lot recently sold and two homes are under contract. No other homes are currently for sale in Shorewood. • Tennis: Court repairs will take place June 8 and 9. Summer Fest tennis and pickle ball tournaments are cancelled due to Covid 19. Due to the virus, courts are on a reserve only basis, except for Saturday morning from 8:00 - 10:00. As always, players play at their own risk. • Community Welfare: -Coli readings at Deer Creek are regularly ABOVE recommended levels. The township has been notified, but is unable or unwilling to address the issue. WADING IN THE CREEK IS NOT RECOMMENDED. Photos were shared that showed erosion in the early 1970’s. Township Supervisor David Bunte plans to run for re-election this fall. • Beaches: The new stairs at North Beach have been installed. A mat will be ordered to place on the sand at the base of the stairs. Security started June 1st. Fernando and his crew cleaned up the beach which was beyond what Shorewood volunteers could handle. • Social: Hershal has checks for return of money due to cancellation of dinner at Timothy’s. Another one might be planned there this summer to be held outside. At this point, SummerFest is still on and Grill on the Green will be a little different – members will bring their own dinner. Friday night beach events are cancelled until further notice due to Covid. • Finances: The proposed budget was presented to the Board that will be presented to the membership at the annual meeting. The board will propose an increase in annual dues at the annual meeting. It would be the first increase in several years. • Executive Vice President: Paul and Knute are looking into ways to prevent further erosion at North Beach. A new contract with the rental management company has been signed. • First Vice President: The Sands is being issued monthly now that it is summer. Comments and suggestions for the Shorewood Sands are welcome. Both Friday emails and the Shorewood Sands will continue. Members should be sure to use the website, www.Shorewood-Hills.com. • New Business: Due to Covid, the annual meeting may need to take place in the Meadow, rather than the normal location, and members may be requested to have only one person per household attend the meeting. All to be determined as approach August 15th. • Annual Meeting: August 15 at 10:00 am.
