Men’s Soccer The Golden Bear soccer team traveled to Asheville, North Carolina to compete in the USCAA National Tournament. After winning the opening game 10-0, they went on to the second game which they also won 6-0. The final game of the tournament proved to be a very close game. After the first half of play, the Bears were down 2-1. The second half of play was a battle of defenses and after the 45 minutes were over, not a goal was scored. Tech lost the game with a score of 2-1. See “Luis Cortell’s Blue and Gold Army: Battle at Nationals” for more details.

Men’s Basketball After showing their skill during the Homecoming game, the Tech Golden Bear basketball team moved on to win the next three out of four games. The Bears defeated Ohio Valley University 89-80 in the Baisi Center. They then dropped the following game to Bethel University with a score of 63- 78. The next two games were victories and were against the University of Virginia’s College at Wise (93-85) and Bluefeld State College (104-96).

Women’s Basketball After the victory at Homecoming, the Lady Golden Bear basketball team wanted to continue playing and dominating on the court. Due to inclement weather, the battle against Bluefield State College had to be cancelled, but on November 3 the Bears traveled to Kentucky to battle the University of Pikeville. After the 40 minute game, Tech came out on top with a score of 76-56. Two days later, the girls traveled to Buckhannon to take on WV Wesleyan College. It was a very close game, but when the final buzzer blew, Tech ended up just barely losing the game by 4 points, 64-60.

Volleyball The Lady Golden Bears finished up their season with a few more win’s which proved to be the perfect way to end the season. On November the 2, the girls traveled to Vienne, WV and battled Ohio Valley University where they ended up losing the bout 3-1. Four days later, the bears shut down Bluefield State College without letting their opponents take a single game out of the best of 3 out of 5 set. Central State University was the final opponent for the Lady Bears and Tech picked up another W in this match with a 3-1 win.

Swimming The men’s swim team at Tech came in 4th out of 6 teams at the WV state games. At the Fairmont Fall Invitational, the Bears came in 3rd out of 3 teams. On November 3, the team traveled to WV Wesleyan College and lost the meet 74-121. The women’s swimming team took 7th at the WV state games, and 4th at the Fairmont Fall Invitational. At Wesleyan College, the team dropped the meet with a score of 34- 82.
