A major route reorganization project discontinued service on the Churchill Heights branch (service in this area is replaced by an 54-54A-54BAv Lawrence extended branch of the 86 SCARBORO route). The 54A branch provides extended service along Lawrence Avenue to Beechgrove. New 54B service operates between Eglinton Station and McCowan, which is extended to Markham Rd on October 31, 1966. 54B service is discontinued effective May 10, 1968.

Originally Morningside Rd on March 16, 1987. This service is the east end loop duplicated discontinued on February 3, 1989. the former 54D, but was later changed to operate via Morningside Rd, Kingston Rd and Collinsgrove Rd.
