WORKSHOP ^Gssssssu^ the stetson international WL May 27- June 1, 2005 WORKSHOP ^gSSSSSSu^ * ld ' '^mmv^0^ Florida's First Private University n behalf of the Stetson University School of Music and the city of DeLand, welcome to our 15th annual Stetson International Guitar Workshop. It is Oalmost inconceivable to imagine that 15 years have passed since our inaugural event. In 1991, we began with a faculty of just two and participants totaling 20. This year, our international artist faculty of 13 will be joined by over 160 guitarists and aficionados from around the world. It will truly be an exhilarating week of concerts, classes, and seminars. I warmly welcome some of our returning Workshop favorites: Amadeus Guitar Duo of Dale Kavanagh and Thomas Kirchhoff, Ron Borczon, Michael Chapdelaine, Oscar Ghiglia, Bruce Holzman, Tom Johnson, Steven Thachuk, and Andrew Zohn. I am delighted to welcome back my brother, Edward G. Robinson, Jr., to conduct the Workshop Guitar Orchestra. Additionally, it is with great pleasure that I introduce to you the new artist faculty of Eliot Fisk, Elena Papandreou, and Ana Vidovic. Our Luthiers' Exhibit in Stetson's Duncan Gallery of Art is open for the duration of our Festival. It features exquisite instruments from across the globe. Please stop by, spend some time playing these wonderful guitars, and visit with the builders and their representatives. My heartfelt appreciation is extended to our marvelous family of generous patrons whose commitment makes our annual celebration so memorable. Please join us at the receptions following each evening performance to meet our artist faculty, students, and luthiers. You will have the opportunity to renew friendships and reflect on times past, as well as establish new acquaintances and enjoy entertaining and enriching experiences. Once again welcome, and thanks so much for being a part of our wonderful week! Stephen Robinson Artistic Director liiilfiiillp?! elcome to Stetson University for a week of great guitar music. In a time when we must prove how essential the arts are to a child’s growth, the NHSO is committed to supporting the dedication, passion, and excitement that you give to your students on a daily basis. We look forward to traveling down these roads this season with you and your students, and are excited to present the amazing Daniel Bernard Roumain.
