La primera es un framework para el desarrollo de software destinado a robots, que facilita el proceso proporcionando un conjunto de librerías y estructuras que se detallarán en el documento. La segunda, PELEA, es un software creado para la integración de planificación automática en robots que permite monitorizar la ejecución y conocer información acerca del estado del mundo. A partir de esta idea se presentan en primer lugar la situación actual y el ámbito histórico de herramientas y sistemas como los robots, la Planificación Automática y las placas Raspberry Pi y Arduino, tecnologías que forman parte de la estructura del trabajo. Dentro de esta revisión se identificarán también las debilidades y fortalezas presentes en estos campos y se realizarán comparaciones entre distintos métodos de implementación o herramientas con similar funcionamiento, justificando el porqué de la elección final. De esta forma se llegará a la definición de los objetivos y el alcance del proyecto, donde se fijarán las metas a alcanzar. En el ámbito socio-económico se destaca el auge que está teniendo la robótica en nuestros tiempos y el gran desarrollo que aún se espera en este campo para el futuro, pese a que aún existen barreras a superar. Posteriormente y en función de los datos detallados se describe la solución adoptada para la implementación del sistema, mediante la especificación de los distintos casos de uso y los requisitos a tener en cuenta para su construcción. Una vez realizado, el funcionamiento del sistema será verificado por una serie de pruebas cuyos resultados serán estudiados, proponiendo mejoras adicionales en la sección de trabajos futuros. Finalmente se comentan las conclusiones obtenidas tras la realización del proyecto, así como información relativa a la planificación del mismo y los costes que ha supuesto su desarrollo. Machine learning is now ready to be applied to a multitude of domains. It has the potential to enhance artificial systems with capabilities, which so far are found in natural intelligent creatures, only. Mixed reality experienced a substantial technological evolution in recent years and future developments of mixed reality devices seem to be promising, as well. Wireless networks will improve significantly in the next years and thus, latency and bandwidth limitations will be no crucial issue anymore. Based on the ongoing technological progress, novel interaction and communication forms with robots become available and their application to real-world scenarios becomes feasible.

Abstract Artificial Intelligence as a field concerns itself with the study and design of intelligent agents. Such agents or systems perceive their environment, reason over their accumulated perceptions and through this reasoning, derive a course of action which achieves their goals or maximizes their performance measure. In many cases this planning process boils down to a principled evaluation of potential sequences of actions by exploring the resulting anticipated situations of the agent and its environment, that is to some form of combinatorial search in an implicit graph representing the interdependencies of agent actions and potential situations. This thesis focuses on the search algorithms that implement this reasoning process for intel- ligent agents. The first part covers a novel subclass of such reasoning problems where a goal driven agent must find a sequence of actions to achieve its goal such that some value function of the sequence is closest to a reference value. Such problems occur for example in recom- mender systems and self-diagnosing agents.

The new robots will be inducted in a ceremony Oct. 23, when they will take their place alongside such notables as NASA’s Mars Sojourner, Honda’s ASIMO and Star Wars’ R2-D2 and C-3PO. The Robot Hall of Fame (RHOF), created in 2003 by Carnegie Mellon University, recognizes excellence in robotics technology. It honors both the fictional robots that inspire innovation and the real robots that embody it. In 2009, it was integrated into Carnegie Science Center’s roboworld™ exhibit. “The technology and art of robotics are advancing at an increasingly rapid rate and so the Robot Hall of Fame also must evolve,” said Shirley Saldamarco, RHOF director and a faculty member at Carnegie Mellon’s Entertainment Technology Center. “As more students, workers and consumers become accustomed to robots, it seems like a natural step to give the public a voice in selecting inductees.” People can vote for one robot in each of four categories: Education & Consumer; Entertainment; Industrial & Service; and Research.
