Friday 14Th January 2011 RML RECEIVES MIA 'TEAM WORK' For immediate release – Friday 14 th January 2011 RML RECEIVES MIA ‘TEAM WORK’ AWARD Thursday 13 th January 2011 - At the annual MIA Business Excellence Awards held last night, RML was presented with the 2010 Teamwork award in recognition of the Wellingborough-based outfit’s outstanding record of five championship wins across all three of its motorsport projects last year – FIA World Touring Cars, Le Mans Series and British Touring Cars. The awards have been an integral part of the Autosport International Show since 1995, acknowledging and celebrating excellence across all levels of UK motorsport. There are seven award categories and through MIA member votes, the winners of each prestigious accolade are chosen based on their notable contribution to the industry and their inspiring achievements over the past year. Ray Mallock, Chief Executive: “It is a great honour to receive this award on behalf of the whole team at RML. In many ways, this is the most significant from our 2010 campaign in that it recognises the outstanding success achieved in five of the toughest UK, European and international championships across three disciplines. Few, if any other organisations have had this level of success anywhere in the world. RML prides itself on its core values for success, including team work, integrity and to always be the best through continuous improvement. 2010 was testament to those values and I am immensely proud to accept this accolade on behalf of all at RML. It is a fitting tribute to their hard work, their skills and in particular, the team work that RML demonstrates.” About RML The RML Group comprises six divisions; Motorsport, Automotive, Engines, Historic, Events and X-Pro. Based in Northamptonshire, England the company’s 4,300 square metre facility includes design, development, manufacturing and operational support for international race/rally programmes and automotive engineering projects including performance engine development. • 50 Years of Racing Mallocks
50 years of Racing Mallocks Arthur Mallock is, to a great many, the embodiment of the 750 Motor Club. That he is sadly no longer with us does not change what he achieved in his lifetime – the ability of ordinary people to take part in motor sport, which was previously the preserve of the more privileged members of society. Arthur did this by example, from early trialing in his doorless Ford 8 Saloon through his famous Austin Seven specials to the U2 series of clubmans racing two seaters, each was conceived to get the most out of the least costly components. He was a founder member of the 750 Motor Club and he wrote many influential articles on entry level motorsport in national magazines and filled the 750 Bulletin with his ideas, truly one of the great figures of British Club Motorsport and one of the fathers of our motorsport industry. That 50 years have now passed since he created his first U2 only makes sense in the context of sons Richard and Ray and their families having for many years continued where Arthur left off, and the Mallock motorsport dynasty has now moved on another generation with Arthur’s grandson Michael well into his driving career. Racing Mallocks of many types have been with us since about the mid 1960’s, frequently one of the most prolific marques in the paddock and usually winning the races and hill climbs that they enter, most particularly in various Clubmans categories. Before they were known as Mallocks they were named U2s, not after the rock band, but after the then well known advertisement for Charles Atlas body building courses “you too could have a body like mine”.
