To get a taste of Christmas in Russia, look for a throughout the museum in order to answer the questions below. FiRst Fl00R: 1. St. Nicholas, the Wonderworker In this icon, what is St. Nicholas holding in his hand?____________________________________ St. Nicholas was the bishop of Myra who had the reputation of proclaiming the Gospel and of giving to the poor and needy. One legend tells that he met a man with three daughters who had no dowry (inheritance). In the cover of night, St. Nicholas left a bag of gold in the house for each daughter. Some legends even say he dropped the bags of gold down the chimney or left them in the stockings that were hung by the fire to dry. 2.
