Arachnologische Mitteilungen 46: 17-26 Karlsruhe, November 2013 Spiders (Araneae) from Albania and Kosovo in the collection of Carl Friedrich Roewer Blerina Vrenozi & Peter Jäger doi: 10.5431/aramit4604 Abstract. The spider collection (Arachnida: Araneae) from Albania and Kosovo in the Senckenberg Research Insti- tute, Frankfurt am Main is reviewed. A total of 122 adult specimens were found belonging to 73 species. Records of 48 species for Albania and 28 species for Kosovo, 20 of them new to Kosovo, are presented. Furthermore there are seven new country records for Albania: Platnickina nigropunctata, Erigone remota, Tenuiphantes tenebricola, Pardosa agrestis, Callobius claustrarius and Zelotes femellus. Additionally, Pardosa cavannae is the first record for the Balkan Peninsula. So far 381 species are known for Albania. A total of 106 species is known from Kosovo now; a list of the 86 spider species formerly known to Kosovo is included. ABSTRAKT Pavoukovci jsou ekologicky velmi různorodou skupinou, obývají téměř všechny biotopy a často jsou specializovaní na specifický biotop nebo dokonce mikrobiotop. Mezi specifické biotopy patří také kmeny a dutiny stromů, ptačí budky a biotopy ovlivněné hnízděním kormoránů. Ve své dizertační práci jsem se zabýval ekologií společenstev pavouků a sekáčů na těchto specifických biotopech. V první studii jsme se zabývali společenstvy pavouků a sekáčů na kmenech stromů na dvou odlišných biotopech, v lužním lese a v městské zeleni. Zabývali jsme se také jednotlivými společenstvy na kmenech různých druhů stromů a srovnáním tří jednoduchých sběrných metod – upravené padací pasti, lepového a kartonového pásu. Ve druhé studii jsme se zabývali arachnofaunou dutin starých dubů za pomocí dvou sběrných metod (padací past v dutině a nárazová past u otvoru dutiny) na stromech v lužním lese a solitérních stromech na loukách a také srovnáním společenstev v dutinách na živých a odumřelých stromech. Ve třetí studii jsme se zabývali společenstvem pavouků zimujících v ptačích budkách v nížinném lužním lese a vlivem vybraných faktorů prostředí na jejich početnosti. Zabývali jsme se také znovuosídlováním ptačích budek pavouky v průběhu zimy v závislosti na teplotě a vlivem hnízdního materiálu v budce na početnosti a druhové spektrum pavouků. -

Munis Entomology & Zoology, 12 (2): 433-469] ABSTRACT: The list provides an annotated checklist of all the spiders from Turkey. A total of 1117 spider species and two subspecies belonging to 52 families have been reported. The list is dominated by members of the families Gnaphosidae (145 species), Salticidae (143 species) and Linyphiidae (128 species) respectively. KEY WORDS: Araneae, Checklist, Turkey, Fauna To date, Turkish researches have been published three checklist of spiders in the country. The first checklist was compiled by Karol (1967) and contains 302 spider species. The second checklist was prepared by Bayram (2002). He revised Karol’s (1967) checklist and reported 520 species from Turkey. Latest checklist of Turkish spiders was published by Topçu et al. (2005) and contains 613 spider records. A lot of work have been done in the last decade about Turkish spiders. So, the checklist of Turkish spiders need to be updated. We updated all checklist and prepare a new checklist using all published the available literatures. This list contains 1117 species of spider species and subspecies belonging to 52 families from Turkey (Table 1). This checklist is compile from literature dealing with the Turkish spider fauna. The aim of this study is to determine an update list of spider in Turkey. -

The earlier suggestion of the synonymy of Pardosa tatarica with Pardosa atomaria is repeated. Theridion betteni Wiehle, 1960 is reported as new for Albania. -

Abstract The phylogenetic relationships and taxonomy of the crab spider genus Xysticus and its closest relatives (i.e., the tribe Coriarachnini, also including, e.g., Ozyptila, Coriarachne and Bassaniana) have long been controversial, with several alternative classifications being proposed, none of which has gained universal acceptance. As Coriarachnini is largely confined to the Holarctic region, the main target area of recent DNA barcoding projects for spiders, a large amount of genetic data for the group is now publicly available. The results of a phylogenetic analysis of this sequence dataset are largely congruent with earlier morphology-based results regarding the evolutionary structure of the group. In particular, they highlight the fact that Xysticus s. lat. is a paraphyletic assembly and that several species groups need to be placed in separate genera to achieve monophyly of Xysticus s. str. Similarly, Coriarachne and Bassaniana appear as independent clades rather than a joined monophyletic Coriarachne s. lat. In contrast, further subdivision of Ozyptila is not supported by the genetic data. Importantly, the analysis also shows that anapophysate members of Xysticus s. lat. form two widely separated groups: a primarily anapophysate division, also including Coriarachne and Bassaniana, at the base of Xysticus s. -
Checklist of the Italian Spiders
Checklist of the Italian spiders (Version December 2014) By Paolo Pantini and Marco Isaia INTRODUCTION Knowing the biodiversity of a certain area primarily means understanding the quantity and the quality of the taxa inhabiting it. Such kind of information represents the basis for all scientific studies focusing on any species occurring in a specific area. In addition, biodiversity data are essential for nature conservation, fruition and management. Thanks to the publication of the Checklist of the Italian species of Animals (Minelli, Ruffo & La Posta, 1993- 1995), Italy is the first country in Europe organizing a national-based faunistic census. Some years later, the CKMap Project (Ruffo & Stoch, 2005) aimed to quantify and consolidate the knowledge of biodiversity in Italy. Despite these important research projects, knowledge on Italian biodiversity still remains far from being complete, in particular when considering Invertebrates (Ruffo & Vigna Taglianti, 2002). Among Invertebrates, spiders are highly diverse predators, capable of colonizing all terrestrial habitats. Moreover, given their sensibility to human-induced environmental changes and their strategic position in the food chain, spiders are particularly important in ecological studies. In this comprehensive work, we aim at providing an updated framework of the knowledge on the Italian spiders. SOURCES The new checklist has been developed in the frame of a wider project aiming to realize a comprehensive Catalog of the Italian spiders based on all available published scientific information, including data on biogeography, bibliography and taxonomy of all the spider species occurring in Italy. Given the lack of a recapitulatory work on the Italian spider fauna, we firstly aim at assembling a complete and updated bibliography. -
