IQAC REPORT 2019-2020

The College Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was established on 25th

March 2019. The Cell has been functioning actively in Academic and

Administrative activities. “Quality Policy” is the major objective of our

IQAC through continuous monitoring and constant follow-up of undergoing activities. IQAC defines the quality bench mark parameters for enhancing the overall academic ambience of the college. IQAC takes initiatives in planning, implementing and streamlining the various quality improvement strategies of the college. IQAC functions effectively to help the Principal to enhance and sustain a culture of quality and excellence in the institution.

Two days NAAC Orientation class was arranged on 20th and 21st May 2019 to guide the teachers for the accreditation process. Dr Zacaria T V, Associate

Professor, EMEA College of Arts and Science Kondotti and IQAC External

Expert was the resource person. The sessions were really successful as he was able to generate enthusiasm among the faculty members to work for the accreditation process. IQAC had conducted Five Days Faculty Enhancement

Workshop from 27th to 31st May 2019 in the college. Dr Muhammed

Shihab, Mr E M Muhammed Ameen, Mr. P K Jamal, Dr Salil Hassan and Mr. Noor Muhammed Kamaludheen led the five days classes.

The workshop was very effective as the resource persons gave practical knowledge about the purpose of teaching coupled with the

Vision and Mission of the college and also insisted on the need to incorporate values like honesty, loyalty and hard work topped with sincerity, in teaching the students. They gave a brief explanation on ensuring quality in teaching. The College Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized an Orientation programme on ‘NAAC: Milestones to be Covered’ on

20th June 2019. Dr. P K Yaqoob, the former Principal was the resource person. Internal Quality Assurance Cell had taken special care for conducting Continuous staff training for quality improvement. During the academic year 2019-20 there was an increase in the deputation of faculty members for seminars conferences and workshops. Measures were taken to ensure the participation of faculty members in Faculty Development Programmes conducted by various national agencies. The following faculty members participated in FDP conducted by NPTEL and registration fee was paid by the institution to promote teachers. One day workshop was organized by the Internal

Quality Assurance Cell on ICT Tools on 12th July 2019.

Ms. Prapitha Gopi K, IQAC member and HOD, PG

Department of Computer Science handled the session. One Day Workshop on Quality Enhancement and Sustenance was conducted by Internal Quality Assurance Cell on 15th October 2019, Tuesday in the Conference Hall. Dr. Haseena V A, IQAC Coordinator and Head of the PG Department of English, MES College Kalladi inaugurated the workshop and delivered the keynote address. The morning session was handled by Dr. Haseena V A and the afternoon session was handled by Mr. Limseer Ali, Assistant Professor, MES College Ponnani. The IQAC took responsibility of conducting the academic audit and provided a Feedback about the Academic Audit to the Principal and was informed to the Staff Council Members. The Experts expressed their Appreciation for some of the activities such as Mentor / Mentee System, Remedial measures for slow learners to come on par with the others.

Academic Audit of the institution was done by Dr. Haseena V A, IQAC Coordinator and Head of the PG Department of English, MES College Kalladi and Mr. Limseer Ali, Assistant Professor, MES College Ponnani.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized an Orientation programme for the students on 13th December 2019. Ms. Faritha J, Principal handled the session on the topic “Legal Rights of the Women in ”. We were really inspired by the thought-provoking speech of

Dr Sashi Tharoor (Honourable Member of Parliament) who visited our campus on 19th December 2020.

Registration work of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan started on 10th October 2019 under the guidance of IQAC The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the institution conducted a review on Revised Guidelines for Assessment and Accreditation of NAAC (National Assessment and

Accreditation) on 20th January 2020. Mr. Limseer Ali,

Assistant Professor, MES College, Ponnani was the resource person.

As a part of various quality improvement strategies

our college got ISO Certification on 24th February 2020. Our college became a recognized Social Entrepreneurship,

Swachhta & Rural Engagement Cell (SES REC) on 11th

September 2020 and a member of National Rural

Entrepreneurship Mission. A motivational talk was arranged on ‘Constitutional Rights,

Values and its Challenges’. Mr B Kemal Pasha, Retired Judge of High Court was the resource person. Ansar Women’s College was selected as a mentee institution

Paramarsh Scheme and a Memorandum of Understanding was

signed between the institutions on 18th September 2019.

Various programmes were held in the college with the support

of Mentor institution.

“Intellectual Property Rights in Global Economy: Challenges in

Balancing Economic Growth and Public Welfare” sponsored by

Little Flower College, Guruvayoor under UGC NAAC

PARAMARSH scheme on 23rd & 24th January 2020. The session was inaugurated by Dr Dhanabhakyam, Professor and Dean of

Department of Commerce, Bharathiar University. IQAC arranged a One-day Workshop on Massive Open Online

Courses (MOOC) on 28th January 2020. Mrs Saleena C S,

Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science was the resource person. She gave a clear idea about the integrated platform for online courses, offered by MHRD, Government of

India, NPTEL etc. She demonstrated the whole procedure of applying for various courses and also had an interactive session. The faculty members got an opportunity to clear their doubts. Our college was approved as a local chapter of NPTEL and Mrs Prapitha Gopi K, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Computer Science was approved as the SPOC from

February 2020 onwards. Internal Quality Assurance Cell in collaboration with

Little Flower College, Guruvayoor conducted an Orientation programme on 3rd February 2020. on NAAC Accreditation process and its Importance in Higher Education Scenario under NAAC Paramarsh Scheme. Ms. Shahanaz M H, HOD,

PG Department of Psychology and IQAC member extended a warm welcome to all the participants. Ms. Faritha J,

Principal presided over the function. Ms. Hitha Paulson,

Department of English, Little Flower College Guruvayoor and NAAC Coordinator led the session. Criteria Review was conducted on 15th February 2020

under the guidance of Mr. Limseer Ali, Assistant Professor,

MES College, Ponnani.

Green Audit and Energy Audit were conducted in the college under the supervision of IQAC. The Green Audit process for Ansar College, during 2019-‘20 involved the getting together of an environment conscious student group in the form of Nature Club, Eco Club and Green Guardians. An audit team with teachers and a team of experts who have practiced greening for years (including certified and accredited energy and environmental auditors and ecological administrators) through the Nature’s Green Guardians Foundation (NGGFn) and headed by the Principal. The PG Department of Psychology observed the 11th World

Social Justice Day on 20th February 2020, Thursday. The programme was conducted under the guidance and support of

IQAC to promote the awareness on Transgender Rights, Social

Justice and to promote Gender equality, Indigenous peoples and

Migrants Rights. Ms. Sheetal Shyam, LGBT activist and state- level secretary of sexual minorities from Kerala was the resource person. She shared experiences from her personal life and enlightened students about their role in supporting transgender. The programme was funded by Little Flower

College, Guruvayoor under UGC NAAC ‘Paramarsh’ Scheme. HOD’s Department presentation and review meeting was conducted on 2nd March 2020. All the IQAC members, Steering

Committee, Criteria Coordinators were present. Mr. Limseer

Ali, IQAC External member, Management Committee members, Principal and Vice Principal analysed the data presented and put suggestions for ensuring quality. Internal Quality Assurance Cell organized an orientation programme on 4th March 2020 for the Student Quality Cell

(SQC) on the topic ‘NAAC Accreditation Process and its importance in Higher Education Scenario’.

A one-day workshop on Research Methodology was held on 10th March 2020, at Ansar Women’s College, Perumpilavu, in order to promote the faculty members and students in doing research. The programme was efficiently organised by IQAC and Research Promotion Council under the sponsorship of Little Flower College, and UGC NAAC Paramarsh Scheme. Dr Mohamed Bedeeuzzaman, Vice Principal, MES College of Engineering, Kuttipuram, inaugurated the workshop. Dr Anjaly Kishore, Assistant Professor, , and Dr C.G. Shyamala, Assistant Professor, Mercy college, Palakkad, handled active sessions on Research Methodology. One day workshop was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell on ICT lesson preparation on 14th May 2020. Ms. Prapitha Gopi K, IQAC member and HoD, PG Department of Computer Science handled a session. The main objective of the workshop was to Enhance capacity of teachers to produce quality contents.

A Three-Day Training Workshop on GREEN AUDITING under UGC NAAC PARAMARSH Scheme in collaboration with Nature’s Green Guardians Foundation was conducted at

Little Flower College, Guruvayoor from 5th to 7th, February

2020. Ms. Fouziya N A (Asst. Professor, Dept. of Mathematics) and

Ms. Kashmeela E T (Asst. Professor, PG Dept. of English) attended the workshop. The Workshop was really inspiring and our college also conducted a Green auditing Workshop in collaboration with Nature’s Green Guardians Foundation. A one-day National workshop was conducted by Little

Flower college, Guruvayoor under the UGC NAAC

PARAMARSH Scheme on the topic “Empowering ICT enabled teaching-learning: Bridging the digital divide” on

25th February 2020. Five teachers from our college participated. Dr Binu Thomas (Associate Professor, Marian college Kuttikanam) handled the topic, and introduced free

ICT tools like Padlet, Mentimeter, Plickers, Moodle, H5P, uReply, AR learn etc. The session was really informative.

One Day National Seminar on Pursuing Excellence in

Higher Education Through Accreditation and Technology was conducted by Little Flower College, Guruvayoor under

NAAC Paramarsh scheme on 7 March 2020. Keynote was delivered by the chief guest Dr. R. Selvam, Consultant for

NAAC Accreditation Process and External Academic Auditor,

Former Head of Zoology Department, Bishop Heber College, Ms. Faritha J, Principal felicitate the programme.

An Online International Conference was conducted by Little Flower College, Guruvayoor on 28th May 2020 on the topic Expanding Strategies of Teaching- Learning with Digital Proficiency. Fifty-one faculty members from our institution participated in this International conference and enriched their teaching-learning skill with digital proficiency.

Apart from this our faculty members and students attended and presented papers in various National and

International seminars, workshops and conferences. Feedback was collected from students, alumnae, parents and employers and the responses were consolidated and analyzed. Performance Appraisal was done by both teaching and administrative staff

IQAC Facilitate Online Feedback on Teachers from

Students of UG and PG programmes.

IQAC also initiated many Infra structural changes to provide an ample learning atmosphere.
