Day 0 MONDAY JUNE 20th – BEIJING (D) Arrival in Beijing, welcome by the local guide and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Beijing.

Day 1 TUESDAY JUNE 21st – BEIJING – PYONGYANG (B/D) Breakfast and free time in the hotel. At the beginning of the afternoon, transfer to Beijing airport. Upon arrival, welcome by the local guide at Pyongyang airport and check-in at the hotel. In the evening, transfer for a delicious traditional dinner, a Korean barbecue.

Overnight in Pyongyang.

Pyongyang Pyongyang, which means “the flat land”, is the capital city of North Korea and its economic and cultural centre. The city has many monumental structures such as the famous Arch of Triumph, the 150-metre high Tower, the Pothong and Taedong Gates, and the House where President Kim II Sung spent his childhood...It’s also a green city with each avenue bordered with rows of overarching trees. There are many parks and leisure grounds in every district of the city.

Day 2 WEDNESDAY JUNE 22nd – PYONGYANG – KAESONG (B/L/D) After breakfast, depart for Mansudae Hill and the huge statues of President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il before reaching Kim Il Sung Square. Visit the Grand Library protecting nearly 30 millions of books, then enjoy an exterior view of the , 150 meter high. Lunch is at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon depart to Kaesong, once the capital of the Koryo Dynasty and today listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Discover the ancient city built according to the geomancy’s rules illustrating the political, cultural, and philosophical values of this period through its palaces, tombs, walls and doors. Cooking demonstration in the evening, including the preparation of rice cakes or . Dinner is at the hotel or a local restaurant. Overnight in a traditional Korean house in Kaesong.

The Fountain and the Great Monuments of Mansudae Located on the Mansudae Hill the monuments display the victory of the Korean Revolution. It includes fountains, the Parliament, as well as a huge statue of President Kim Il Sung and President Kim Jong Il. It is traditional for Korean people to bring and offer flowers at its foot.

Day 3 THURSDAY JUNE 23rd – KAESONG – PYONGYANG (B/L/D) After breakfast, walk from the hotel through the city centre of Kaesong towards the South Gate. Then, depart to visit the DMZ where the armistice talks began. Visit the Koryo History Museum located within the walls of the very first university in Korea.

Lunch is at local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Anhwa Temple and its seven-floor pagoda, Songjuk Bridge and King Kongmin tomb. Later drive back towards Pyongyang. On the way, stop to visit the ancient citadel of the mountains and Jongbang Buddhist Temple. Check-in at the hotel upon arrival. Dinner is at the hotel or a local restaurant. Overnight in Pyongyang.

Kaesong & the Demilitarized Zone Located 160 km South of Pyongyang, this historical city remains significant as it was the capital of Koryo, Korea’s latest kingdom when the territory of Korea was one (from the 10th century to the end of 14th century). Located on the Military Demarcation Line dividing the territories of Korea into two, Kaesong is very close to the small rural village of Panmunjon. Also named the “Bamboo Wall”, this over-secured area of Korea’s territory is one of the last remains of the Cold War. Several hundreds of thousands of soldiers are looking after it. Created on the 23rd of March 1953, this zone saw for the first time a train crossing from South to North on the 17th of May 2007, after more than 50 years of total lock. This visit is one of the most stunning moments of a trip to North Korea. Despite the situation, the ambiance there is surprisingly relaxed.

Day 4 FRIDAY JUNE 24th – PYONGYANG (B/D/L) After breakfast, visit the new Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum exhibiting military gear used by both sides including tanks, planes and torpedo boats. End this morning by the visit of the Korean Film Studio, which we call “Pyongllywood” and which has produced more than 10,000 movies.

Lunch is at a local restaurant. The afternoon is dedicated to Pyongyang City. Depart through the city’s subway a rare opportunity to share the Pyongyangese daily life. Get off at the station at Arc of Triumph for shopping in one of the state owned department stores. Dinner is at the hotel or a local restaurant. Overnight in Pyongyang.

Day 5 SATURDAY JUNE 25th – PYONGYANG – BEIJING (B) After breakfast, time is at leisure in the hotel. End of our services.
