It is our desire to provide shoeboxes to as many children as possible, but more importantly, to share the love of Christ with them. Hopefully this packet will guide you throughout the year to simplify your shoebox journey. In addition to the information contained in this packet, there are many ideas concerning packing your shoebox on other websites as well as Pinterest. 1. Find a shoebox FBC has shoeboxes. They will be stacked in the hallways for you to pick up as many as you can fill & return. 2. Girl or Boy? Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. 3. Fill with gifts Select a quality “wow” toy such as a doll, soccer ball with pump, or stuffed animal. Then add other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. 4. Pray Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift. You can also include a personal note and photo. OPTIONAL* Follow Your Box Labels Donate $9 online and receive a tracking label to Follow Your Box and discover the destination of your shoebox gift. This early Worth creation illustrates his patronage by wealthy Americans, who had to travel to Paris to purchase their custom made dresses. Sarah Noyes Tibbets wore this dress when she married John Wool Griswold on January 15, 1878. Petticoat ca. 1878 Cotton #67.446c This petticoat was probably coordinated to go with the elaborate wedding gown by Charles Frederick Worth, made for Sarah Noyes Tibbett. The fineness of the cotton petticoat matches that of the gown. This example has a pink slip that is integral to the sheer overdress, including a matching printed hem that extends below the outer hemline. The edge of the wide collar is finished in a manner similar to fine lingerie. -

DEPT C – FASHION REVUE Judges: Natalie Stratman & Nicole Ruskamp Purple award $2.50; blue award $2.00; red award $1.50; white award $1.00 State Fair Representatives will be based on clothing project enrollment in the County and based on the decision of the judges. State Fair Fashion Revue: Entries NOT Accepted – The following items can NOT be entered in the State Fair 4-H Fashion Show: 1) STEAM 4: Beyond the Needle – Decorate Your Duds embellished purchased garments or embellished purchased garments with original design, for example, purchased garments that are then tie-dyed or purchased garments that are then embellished with rhinestones. (In this constructed fashion show class, the fabric first must be designed and created, then a garment is constructed from the newly made fabric) 2) Textile clothing accessories 3) Nightshirt/loungewear, for example, flannel lounging pants 4) Make One – Buy One 5) Recycled Garments The Dress Revue will be open to the Cuming County 4-H members in the Beginning, Middle, and Advanced clothing projects. A schedule will be sent/emailed to all participants prior to the contest. Each contestant should secure an information sheet, complete it, and mail it to the County Extension Office by Friday, July 30. (A paragraph description of the garment plus a sample of the fabric is required from each contestant.) Presentation of the style show and the winners will be announced on Friday evening, August 13. Members must participate in the public style revue to receive premium money and ribbons. Members must exhibit all Dress Revue entries (even Consumer Class) at county Fair in the respective clothing construction class. -

SECTION 25: PROJECT REQUIREMENTS – Clothing & Textiles 1) Project Levels are: Beginners: 1 - 3 years in clothing projects. Intermediates: 4 - 6 years in clothing projects. Advanced: 7 - 10 years in clothing projects 2) Fair exhibits will be the garments, articles, or posters made as required for judging for the chosen project. 3) It is recommended that members keep a sewing box and reference file for their own use and add to it each year. 4) For judging, garments made will be evaluated both on and off the 4-H member according to the following: a. Fashion: a) reflects current style; b) evidence of newness in color, texture, trimming, or lines. b. Grooming: a) clean and neat; b) appropriate foundation garments. c. Posture and poise d. Construction: a) appropriate construction methods for fabric and garment design; b) well-constructed seams and hand finishes; c) smooth, sharp, external appearance. e. Fit: a) seams and garment lines well placed; b) appropriate ease for style of garment in relation to figure type; c) garment hangs well overall. f. Design: becoming and good use of line, color, and texture. g. Accessories: well chosen to complete and complement outfit. h. Personable qualities: pleasant expression, gives relaxed and self-confident impression. i. Overall appearance: pleasing and unified. j. Knowledge: a) clothing construction, b) fashion c) design. k. Finished seams and types of stitches used on hems. 5) Youth should strive for a pleasing total appearance that enhances their personality, coloring, and figure type. Members are asked not to wear their constructed garments to judging so that judges may examine projects before they are modeled. -

OK 2016-2017 DICKINSON ISD DRESS EXPECTATIONS A student's appearance has much to do with the way the student feels about himself or herself. Appearance also affects the way in which other students respond to them and has a great deal to do with student success and the learning atmosphere of the school. The Dickinson ISD Dress Code is established to teach grooming, hygiene, instill discipline and modesty, prevent disruption, avoid safety hazards, teach respect for authority, and prepare our students for the future. The student’s appearance (clothing, shoes, accessories and grooming) shall not reflect gang affiliation, cause a distraction, nor conceal contraband. ADMINISTRATORS HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY AND RIGHT TO DETERMINE APPROPRIATENESS OF ATTIRE AND GROOMING FOR THE SCHOOL SETTING.
