The clinic was dedicated to the memory of Hospital Corps- man SecondClass Donald Lee Rudd who was killed on March 3, 1969, while serving with Marines in Quang-Tri Prov- ince, Republic of Vietnam. As a result of that action, Rudd was posthumously awarded t he Navy Cross. Brigadier General G.L. s, commanding general of 1st MAR, presented Ruth Rudd, mother of the honored Corpsman, and Connie Rudd Towey, his widow, with an architectural sketch of the new clinic.
