Torrin Campbell completed 11-of-23 passes (173 yards) for the Bears and Sidney Gibbs rushed for a team-high 82 yards on 10 carries. The Bears defense was led by Jaleel Scroggins SHAW BEARS with a team-high 10 tackles. DATE OPPONENT TIME/RESULT 9/7 at Campbell L 38-14 Bowie State used a huge fourth quarter surge on Saturday afternoon, running off 24 straight 9/14 BOWIE STATE 1 P.M. points at one point and defeated American International College (Springfield, Mass.) 34-20 9/21 at Chowan 6 P.M. in the season opener for both teams. Quarterback Ja’rome Johnson came off the bench the 9/28 EDWARD WATERS 1 P.M. Bulldogs bench late in the second half to provide a much needed spark. Johnson rolled up 230 10/5 at Virginia State 6 P.M. yards of total offense (172 rushing and 58 passing) and scored two touchdowns. Deron Smith 10/12 at Fayetteville State 1 P.M. was the teams’ leading receiver with 41 yards on three receptions and Anthony Howard was 10/19 LIVINGSTONE 12 P.M. the leading tackler for the Bulldogs with seven (six solo). 10/26 at Johnson C. Wilson, Dwho was an all-conference tight end for the Bulldogs (1998), did his first tour of duty as an assistant coach from 1999-2003. As the Assistant Head Coach (Running Backs and Special Teams Coordinator) during those years, BSU’s special teams and running game consistently ranked at the top of the conference. During Wilson’s first run at Bowie State, the Bulldogs combined an overall record of 26-24 and they were able to bring home a CIAA Eastern Division Championship in 2002. As Wilson began to flourish in his coaching career, he would trade the comforts of home and the CIAA for the life in the south, deep in the heart of Texas. He spent three seasons on the sidelines at Texas Southern University and then Wilson took a position at Prairie View A&M University. The Panthers of Prairie View finished the 2008 season with a 9-1 record and ranked 23rd nationally in Division I-AA football polls. As the running backs coach, Wilson helped lead the Panthers’ offense to their most successful season ever. Under Wilson’s guidance, they led the SWAC in rushing and broke the university’s all-time record. Wilson would leave THE WILSON FILE his name in the history books, having been the first coach in Prairie View history to coach a 1,000 yard running back. PERSONAL: Hometown: Washington, DC Wilson began his head coaching era at Bowie State in 2009. Wife: Allison (Dunn) In 2009 Wilson’s Bulldogs broke the school record for Most Son: Dylan Offensive Yards in a game, had eight players to receive All Conference honors, and four players selected to All-Rookie Team. At one point in 2009 Bowie State was ranked as high as 8th in the region, and closed the season with the #1 EDUCATION: ranked defense in the country. While Wilson garnered Coach High School: Suitland HS (1995) of the Week awards on two separate occasions during 2009, College: Bowie State (2000) Isaac Redman was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL. The 2009 Eastern Division Champs also boasted an impressive 25 players with grade point averages above a PLAYING EXPERIENCE: 3.0. Suitland HS (Tight End / 1991-1995) Montgomery C.C. (Tight End / 1995-1996) The 2010 season would prove to be another successful Bowie State (Tight End / 1997-98) campaign for Wilson and the Bulldogs. Wilson continues to put his name in the history books as his high-powered offense broke and reset many records.

Last weekend, the Golden Bulls 10-19 FAYETTEVILLE STATE 2:00 PM topped Livingstone College 34-17 in the annual Commemorative Classic held in 10-26 SHAW (HC) 1:00 PM Charlotte Memorial Stadium. JCSU football has won their last five games to include 11- 2 at Saint Augustine’s 1:30 pm closing out the 2012 season winning the last four games on the schedule. VSU amassed a season-high 379 yards of total offense, led by 9/29 at Lincoln PA* 1:00 PM quarterback LaMonta Green.
