Burnim has served as ninth president of Bowie State University since September 11, 2006. His research and publications focus on economics, with special emphasis on public fi nance and labor economics. He has written papers and published several scholarly articles in these areas. HHe serves on the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Education (NAFEO) board oof directors, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) board oof directors, and the American Council on Education–Center for Advancement of Racial anand Ethnic Equity. Recently, he accepted an appointment from the executive council of the CCommission on Colleges to serve on the Principles Review Committee, which is charged to study the commission’s current standards. He is a member of The Bowie Rotary Club anand a former chairman of the board of directors for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic AAssociation (CIAA). Prior to arriving at Bowie State University, Dr. Burnim served as chancellor for 11 years at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) and was the eighth chief executive offi cer of ECSU. He also previously served as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at North Carolina Central University. Earlier in his career, he worked as assistant vice president for academic affairs in the general administration of the University of North Carolina; as a staff economist at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; and as a faculty member and researcher at Florida State University. He is an economist with three degrees in economics—a BA degree and an MA degree from the University of North Texas, and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. A native of Teague, Texas, the president and his wife, the former LaVera Levels, have two adult children and three grandchildren. 2008 BOWIE STATE FOOTBALL 2008 BOWIE STATE 2 HEAD COACH Michael J. Lynn, Jr. - Head Football Coach Michael “Mike” Lynn enters his fi fth season as Bowie State University’s head football coach.co Lynn joined the Bulldogs family after serving as Director of Football Operations and AssistantA Coach (Offensive Line) at Morgan State University (2002 - 2004). He has also servedse as Morgan State’s Interim Head Football Coach (November 2001 - February 2002), AssistantA Head Football Coach (January 2000 - November 2001) and Defensive Line Coach (April(A 1999 - January 2000). Lynn began his coaching career at Suitland High School (Forestville, MD) where he servedse as Assistant Football Coach (1996 - 1999) and Head Wrestling Coach (1995 - 2000). Head Coach / Offensive Coordinator Michael Carter begins his fi fth season as the offensive coordinator for Coach MichaelM Lynn and BSU. In addition to coaching the offensive line, Carter will be in charge of recruiting Baltimore, Baltimore County, Howard County, Harford County,C and Virginia. Since his arrival to BSU, Carter has produced six First-Team All-CIAA per- formers.fo In his fi rst four seasons, Bowie State has ranked among the conference leadersle in fewest sacks allowed, time of possession and rushing yards gained. The offensive line is also consistently one of the least penalized units in the CIAA. Carter played collegiately at Morgan State University Bears as an offensive lineman. While at Morgan State, Carter was a four-year starter and represented MSU’s Bears in the 1986 Freedom Bowl Classic. Carter’s coaching career began as a volunteer assistant for the Bears in 1999, and then joined the staff full time in 2000 as the tight-ends coach. After three seasons with the Bears,
