The impressive recording session pictured above is apt proof of the commanding posi- tion London Records now occupies in the record industry. Caught waxing is thrush Vera Lynn, who, since her introduction to the American music public, has garnered a top niche in popularity via several click platters. Vera is responsible for the start of the song hit “Again”, which she first recorded many months ago. Other winners have been, “When You Awake”, “So Rare”, and “Do I Love You”; the latter tune having earned Miss Lynn the title of top gal tonsiler across the pond. Caught directing the session is the famed maestro Tootie Camarata, who, in his position of musical director for the plattery, has performed many noteworthy achievements in the field of music. Sam Lewis also returned from visiting Oregon and California and talked “Bango” all the time. Now after the success of Avron and Sam, Ed Levin wants to also get going and plans a trip thruout the southeast part of the nation . . . Over at United Mfg Co. there was lots and lots of action this past week with distribs calling around and people rushing here and there. Visitors have been calling around here almost every single hour since announcement of the new Bally one-ball “Champion” with For AMI Cigarette Vendor orders now reaching a higher rate at the same stage when ‘“Citation” was being featured. If this keeps up “Champion” may even pass “Citation” (which unanimously won the ops’ votes as the best moneymaking one-ball of the year) in sales. And that, believe you me, would be one terrific achievement for Ray Moloney and his very swell bunch of guys.

Never saw a guy as happy as A1 Stern since he entered into the manufac- turing business. This seems to be right down his alley. Genco continues on its busy way and very proud over the fact the pinball ops voted their “Screwball” game over the top. (And from what our New York headqquarters tells us, this was one very, very tight contest with the decision hanging fire right to the very last second as the magazine went to press.) . . . Just can’t upset that big smile on Ted Rubenstein’s face these days.
