Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management Letter from the Dean Dear Graduates, Today marks a major milestone in your lives—the day you officially transition from students to alumni. You’ve accomplished so much in your time at the Conrad N. Hilton College, and now you’ll build upon those experiences as you launch your careers. Several factors have contributed to your success at the University of Houston: the support of your families and friends; encouragement from faculty and staff; and—most importantly—your own determination to learn, grow and accomplish your goals. You’re now part of a global network of more than 7,000 Hilton College graduates, and the friendships you’ve made as students will serve as the foundation for great professional relationships in the coming years. Wherever your journey takes you, I encourage you to stay connected to your College. This is one of the finest hospitality programs in the world, but we need your support to continue to build upon that legacy. The Fall Class of 2015 is among the best the College has ever produced and I know you’ll continue to serve as outstanding ambassadors for our program in all of your professional endeavors. On behalf of the entire Hilton College family, I offer my sincere congratulations to all of you. Best wishes … and Go Coogs! Dennis Reynolds Dean of the College & Barron Hilton Distinguished Chair 5 Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management If you’re interested in a career in hospitality, the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston is the place for you. Our graduates shine in all sectors of this booming global industry—lodging, restaurants, food & beverage management, casinos and gaming, events, spa management, sales, marketing and more. A small college at a major university in the nation’s fourth-largest city, Hilton College offers students a real sense of community. Whether they’re pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management, a Master of Science in Hospitality Management or a Ph.D. in Hospitality Administration, our students benefit from world-class facilities—including our upscale teaching hotel, the Hilton University of Houston; our new, state-of-the-art wine-tasting lab; our student-run restaurant, Barron’s; and Cougar Grounds, our student-managed coffee shop—and from the skilled instruction of our experienced, award-winning faculty. Consistently ranked among the top hospitality programs in the world, Hilton College emphasizes experiential learning in addition to more traditional, lecture- style teaching methods. This philosophy ensures our students gain practical, hands- on, real-world hospitality experience while they’re pursuing their degrees, so when they graduate, they’re well on their way to finding the job of their dreams. We are known for producing quality hospitality professionals who make an immediate impact on the industry, so our students are highly sought-after by recruiters from across the globe. In fact, more than 80 percent of Hilton College students already have jobs lined up when they graduate! 6 Conrad N.
