Activities and Games

Activity 1: Beetle

Aim To complete a beetle drawing, having answered questions correctly.

Equipment needed. • Paper and pencils • dice, • questions

Instructions • The players take it in turns to roll the dice until a 1 is thrown. • The player with the 1 is then asked a question which, if answered correctly allows them to draw a body. The question sheet has questions listed under numbers - these should cor- respond to the number shown on the dice i.e. if a player throws a 6, ask a question from the 6 section. • Once each player has drawn a body, then they are able to add the beetle’s legs and head. • The antennae and the eyes may only be added once a head has been drawn. • The person with a completed beetle is the winner. Equipment • For each game, a copy of the Noughts and Crosses grid for each pair or team. (overleaf) • Two different coloured counters to represent noughts and crosses, or pens to write in the squares or ‘O’s and ‘X’s written on paper to place on the grid when a question is answered correctly. • Questions (below)

Instructions • Either divide the class into teams or have pairs of players for this game. • A question must be correctly answered before a cross or nought can be put down. • The quiz questions as well as the following questions can be used.
