S OFTBALL Q LD M ASTERS T OURNAMENT 10 years running and still getting bigger and better!!!

August 2009 saw the Softball Queensland Masters Tournament being held for it’s 10th year!

Amongst the competition, partying and exciting times over the weekend, I’m sure many great memories and friendly rivalries were made. The SQ Masters Tournament continues to grow each year and this year was no exception, bringing us to a record 82 teams. Over 1100 participants played in the three-day tournament.

The tournament function was again held at Meakin Park and included a celebration of the ten years of the tournament, including photo slideshow and the presentation of Ball and Chain “Lifer” awards to the following women who have been involved in Masters since its initial year in 2000;

Sandy Bassett – Bets Vets Betty Paxton – Bets Vets Beth Delbridge – Steelers Julie Peters – D’ruff Diamonds Fiona Fagg – Dodgers Michelle Selwood – Dodgers Evelyn Kent – Redcliffe Beth Tahere – Phantoms Heather McLaughlin – Bets Vets Lyn Tynan – Bets Vets Doreen Murray – Bets Vets Toni Waitoa – Mavericks Brenda O’Brien – F Troop Patty White – Bets Vets Susan O’Connor – Noosa Wendy Willett – Aussie Mozzies

Teams came from all over Queensland to participate, hailing from Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Hervey Bay, Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Redlands, Logan, Toowoomba, Ipswich and the Gold Coast. Teams were also from across the border in NSW; Coffs Harbour and , just to name a few. All descended on Meakin Park to take part in the tournament.

A big thank you must go to all players and officials for making the 10th Annual Softball Queensland Masters Tournament the enormous success it was. Without you, we wouldn’t have a
