2018 RAINBOW WAHINE SOFTBALL RECORD BOOK RAINBOW WAHINE SOFTBALL STADIUM The Rainbow Wahine have played their home contests on campus since the program turned intercol- HAWAII AT RWSS legiate in 1985. The field, formerly known as Wahine Softball Field, was transformed into the current Year Home Record Win.% 1,200-seat stadium prior to the 1998 season and has since added a batting house and training/hospi- 1998 28-2 .933 tality room to the complex. This year, the RWSS underwent its first major renovations since its construc- 1999 19-3 .864 tion in 1998. The renovation would not have been possible without the support of the Hawai’i State 2000 12-10 .545 Legislature which provided $3.4M of appropriations toward the improvements. 2001 20-5 .800 In 2001, the rightfield batting house was built and in 2009 the training room/hospitality room 2002 18-13 .580 beneath the third base-side bleachers was constructed. In 2014, new stadium field lights were installed 2003 20-6 .769 and in 2015 a new video scoreboard replaced the original scoreboard. Also added in 2015 was custom 2004 19-14 .576 padding for the backstop behind homeplate. 2005 20-13 .606 Renovations to the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium: 2006 17-11 .607 -Regraded field to install new artificial turf in the outfield and new skinned infield 2007 28-7 .800 -Upgraded fencing and custom padding in the outfield 2008 26-10 .722 -New poles/safety netting for spectators, pedestrians, vehicles, and beach volleyball courts 2009 18-12 .600 -Higher poles/netting in the outfield to protect tennis courts 2010 24-8 .750 -Repainted entire stadium 2011 24-9 .727 -Upgraded ADA ramp 2012 26-3 .897 -Safety coating on walkways and stairs of stadium 2013 28-7 .800 -New flooring for dugouts 2014 11-19 .367 -New graphic banners facing outside the stadium under the bleachers 2016 17-19 .472 -Repainting/new fencing of rightfield batting house 2017 26-13 .667 -New storage shed built in the leftfield batting cage area TOTAL 423-201 .678 -New interior and perimeter fencing Overall Record The RWSS has hosted a variety of softball events, in addition to serving as the University’s home facility. Year W-L Win % Team USA has stopped by for exhibition contests on a few occasions in preparation for its gold medal 1998 46-15 .754 run at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Team USA swept a three-game set from the Women’s pros Softball 1999 35-23 .603 League (WPSL) All-Star Team and took a doubleheader from the Rainbow Wahine. The national team also 2000 25-24 .510 made a brief training stop in Honolulu in 2007 en route to their World Championships. 2001 46-18 .718 The RWSS also serves as home to the Hawaii High school Athletic Association’s state softball tour- 2002 35-25 .583 nament as well as numerous other community events. 2003 40-20 .667 Since the RWSS was first constructed, UH has a 347-133 record at home. 2004 28-33 .459 In 1998, RWSS’s first season of play, UH went 28-2 at home and 46-15 overall. In 1999 the team 2005 31-21 .600 went 19-3 with a 35-23 overall record. 2006 32-22 .596 The RWSS has seen conference championship teams (2003, ’07, ’10, ‘12, ‘13). In 2007, UH fans 2007 50-13 .794 were treated to one of the best season in school history with the team notching wins over several ranked 2008 40-21 .656 teams at home, a majority coming during the four non-conference tournaments that Hawai`i hosted. The 2009 30-24 .556 ‘Bows earned home wins over Top 25 teams Nebraska, Auburn, DePaul, Oregon State, Baylor, California, 2010 50-16 .758 and Fresno State. The team went on to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals in Knoxville, Tenn. for the 2011 37-18 .623 first time in school and conference history. 2012 44-9 .830 In 2008, the ‘Bows went 40-21 at the RWSS and hosted the WAC Tournament for the first time ever. 2013 45-13 .776 Hawai‘i finished with a solid 40-21 season going and making their eighth appearance in the NCAA’s. 2014 22-28 .440 Then, in 2010, the Rainbow Wahine set the world afire winning both the WAC regular season and 2015 32-22 .593 tournament titles; the NCAA Regional and NCAA Super Regional to advance to its first Women’s College 2016 24-30 .444 World Series. The ‘Bows went 24-8 at home that season and went on to finish the season at 50-16. 2017 29-23 .558 In 2012, the ‘Bows started on a school-record 21-game win streak and went 26-3 at home en route TOTAL 699-390 .642 to its fourth Western Athletic Conference title and 10th appearance in the NCAA tournament.
