LAST WEEK PROVO, Utah - BYU swept its Western Athletic Conference series at home against Utah State last weekend, winning in a rout, 15-6, before edging out close wins by scores of 2-0 and 6-4 in the final two games.

Stacie Toney a walk-off home run in game three to cap a thrilling, final-inning come- back. Toney also hit a home run in the first game to end the contest in six innings.

Delaney Willard had 4 RBI in game one and hit the game-tying home run in the seventh inning of game three two batters before Toney’s walk-off.

In game two, Tori Almond pitched a shutout with six strikeouts to help the Cougars, who also beat UVU and lost at Idaho State earlier in the week.

BYU improved to 28-12 and 7-3 in the WAC, good for third place in the conference.

WILLARD EARNS 2ND HITTER OF THE WEEK DENVER – Brigham Young’s Delaney Willard and Hawai‘i’s Stephanie Ricketts have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for March 19-25. This is the second honor of the season for Willard and the fourth of the season and 11th over- all for Ricketts.

Willard, a senior right fielder from Camarillo, Calif., hit .444 with a double, three home runs and seven RBI as the Cougars went 4-0 on the week, including a series sweep of New Mexico State. For the week, she posted a 1.556 slugging percentage and a .615 on-base percentage. In the series finale 2012 WAC STANDINGS (As of 4/15/12) against the Aggies, she became the first Cougar this season to hit two home runs in a game, the sec- ond of which was a three-run, walk-off game-winner.
