6 Harvest of the Month - Cabbage
Facts
Cabbage is high in fiber, vitamins C and K, and it is naturally fat free and cholesterol free. Cabbage is one of the oldest vegetables in existence. There are at least a hundred different types of cabbage grown in the world. The most common types in the United States are the green, red and savoy varieties. Cabbage has virtually no fat, 1 cup of raw cabbage contains 50 calories, 190% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin C and 5 grams of dietary fiber.
Mr. Jason gave the Spotlight Reporters 3 different cabbage salads: Carrot Confetti Salad, Cabbage Salad with Oranges and Pineapple and Bell Pepper ColeSlaw. Their favorite one was the Carrot Coffetti Salad. Jessica Jimenez said she loved the pineapple and oranges that were in the salads. Joceline Miranda said the Carrot Confetti Salad tasted and smelled good. Allison Henriquez said she would recommend you try all 3 salads. Jose Jimenez said all 3 of them were super good. A huge thank you to Mr. Jason and the cafeteria staff for the delicious salads.
