Outside of dance performances on its stages, The Music Center provides opportunities for lifelong learning and engagement, helping inspire every generation with the joy and excitement of dance.

During the past 35 years, The Music Center has offered programs and services to local schools, serving more than 10 million students, teachers and families. Programs such as Music Center on Tour bring the magic of live performance directly to students through engaging school assemblies. These performances serve as models of artistic excellence, inspiring creative thinking and introducing young audiences to the world’s diverse cultural traditions. All performances are accompanied by curriculum materials for teachers to further the student's understanding of dance and the performing arts.

In addition to in-school programs, The Music Center offers a number of opportunities for students to learn on its campus. Each season, The Music Center welcomes thousands of students to free matinees and special performances by world-renowned companies as part of its dance series. In conjunction with these performances, teachers have the opportunity to attend free professional workshops designed to help them integrate dance into their curriculum. The Music Center also provides students with free and subsidized tickets to season performances, as well as the opportunity to experience open rehearsals, master and community classes led by visiting artists, lecture demonstrations and art workshops.

The Music Center also encourages curiosity and dialogue with patrons throughout the year with pre-performance lectures and its summer dance series, Dance DTLA, which offers dance lessons by some of Los Angeles' top dance instructors alongside live bands and DJs for dancing all night under the stars.

This is just some of what The Music Center is doing for the community. Be a part of The Music Center to experience all that dance has to offer.
