I have run into the most amazing people throughout my hCG Diet journey, and one of these people is Susen, a fellow hCGer who is a professional Skincare Specialist and Makeup Artist.

One question that I have received the most frequently is what makeup and skincare products can I use while on the hCG diet? Most of us would prefer not to have buy specialized products just for the diet, when many of the products we're already using may be perfectly acceptable. But how does one know what's okay to use and what's not?

In comes Susen. She has spent countless hours, researching ingredients and calling companies. She came to me and offered to let me pass on this special list she's been developing of hCG-safe, oil free cosmetics and skincare products to those who happen upon my website.

It has been a few years since this list was compiled. Sometimes, makeup products change their formulations. Recently, an hCGer came to me and was bummed out when she purchased a few Bobbi Brown products on this list, but when they arrived, the label said they contained shea butter, geranium oil, and grapefruit seed oil. I think overall this list can still be quite helpful, but moving forward, I think it best to use this as a STARTING to guide, and to follow up with researching the ingredient label of your chosen makeup product online to check the current ingredients and to be sure it's still oil free.

When I was about to embark on my hCG Journey, I decided it was best to research the best oil-free skincare and cosmetics options I could find. I also wanted to see which of my current favourites I could continue to use while on hCG. Firstly, I found that a LOT of products that I assumed wouldn't contain any oils actually did! For example, powder cosmetics. I wrongly assumed that powders didn't contain any oils, after all, they're powders, not creams. I also found that, for people such as myself, with mature and/or dry skin, it was difficult to find good, hydrating oil-free skincare products. Most oil-free skincare products are geared towards oily, acne-prone skin types. So, what started out being some quick, personal research into Phase 2-safe beauty products, quickly became an in depth research project for everyone on hCG.

I started my research with products specifically labeled "oil-free". From there, I used my background knowledge to look at other products' ingredient lists to search for "hidden" oils. Many products not specifically labeled as "oil-free" did not contain any oils in their ingredients, so they were added to my ever-expanding list. Of course, since new discoveries are made constantly, I cannot keep up with all the new ingredients companies have developed, so when in doubt, I contact companies to ask them which of their products were free of all forms of oils/fats. I must say, I have been disappointed by many companies. They simply haven't responded to my e-mails, so I can't safely add their products to my P2 Safe list. I have contacted companies like Revlon, Maybellne, Avon, etc. at least three times, but haven't received any responses. Other companies, like MAC Cosmetics and Merle Norman have been very quick to respond and I have been very impressed with the comprehensive information they have provided for me.

So, I continue my research and hopefully the list will continue to grow. My goal is to give everyone on hCG P2 a large range of skincare and cosmetics to choose from, at all price points, from inexpensive drugstore brands, to expensive luxury brands. This is already quite possible where skincare is concerned, but unfortunately, where cosmetics are concerned, the choices are mainly mid to high end brands, as the mainstream drugstore brands have not been responding to my questions.

I hope this ever-expanding list of hCG P2 beauty products is helpful for a great many people.
