Absolutely spot on! This deserves the widest possible support IMHO Subject: Sacrifice and Recognition Hi All, Just posted a question to Libby Trickett nee Lenton at the Daily Telegraph website live blog. 1:08[Comment From Ray] G'day Libby. Do you think it's appropriate that first time Olympic gold medal winners are awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) given most are in their late teens/early twenties? 1:10 Hi Ray. I think they are definitely deserving, even though are so young they have worked very hard to achieve their amazing results. Just because they are young, does not mean they are not deserving. The youngest OAM Olympian is 18. Questions sent to the Honours and Awards people at the Governor Generals office on the 4th April are still yet to be answered. Now read on. Yours Sincerely Ray Brown National President Injured Service Persons Association (Peacetime Injuries) Www.ispa.asn.au (02) 9833 8485 043 833 8486 ISPA PO Box 1164 St Marys NSW 2760 We Served - We Gave - We Care True Sacrifice and Recognition There is no greater sacrifice than that where a man or woman gives his or her life for their country. A little over 102,000 Australian men and women have done just that in war, peacekeeping and peacetime service. Training for war is not without its costs with over 550 men and women paying the ultimate price in the ongoing service of this country. This is not done for personal gain and accolades or in competition to beat others to become the best.

  • IPC Administration Manual
PARALYMPIC ADMINISTRATION MANUAL • PARALYMPIC MOVEMENT POWERED BY The IPC’s mission is to develop Paralympic Sport around the world at all levels, and ensure the means necessary to support future growth of the Paralympic Movement. Behind this stated objective, constant hard work is being conducted on the ground – men and women through their love of sport and devotion to the Paralympic Movement use resources available to bring Paralympic Sport to life across the five continents. Without them, ParalympicS port would simply not exist. This commitment ultimately drives the continual evolution of National Paralympic Committees (NPC) and the growing events calendar. The popularity and development of Paralympic Sport now more than ever depends on the ability of our NPCs to develop and deliver quality training and competition opportunities for their athletes. For this reason, the IPC is providing managers and administrators the means which allow them to accomplish their work in the best manner possible. This Paralympic Administration Manual is a further demonstration of the IPC’s commitment in providing the Paralympic Movement with the resources needed to accomplish their goals. You will find it an extremely useful tool in developing Paralympic Sport in your region and country. This publication was made possible through funding from the German Ministry of the Interior, and adds to a wide range of programmes developed in partnership with the IPC Academy. It will contribute to raising the general quality of NPCs and Paralympic events, and will assist the growth of Paralympic Sport at all levels. On behalf of the IPC, I would like to thank all of the NPCs and their commitment to Paralympic Sport.

  • FOURTEENTH CONGRESS of the REPUBLIC of the PHILIPPINES First Regular Session
ZENATE FlCE OF “tttr ~~~~~~~~ FOURTEENTH CONGRESS OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES First Regular Session SENATE d Introduced by Senator Manuel “Lito” M. Lapid EXPLANATORY NOTE Sports Competition involving differently abled athletes began in the years following World War II when Sir Ludwig Guttman, a world pioneer in the rehabilitation of people with spinal injuries, recognized the value of sports as a means of rehabilitation. From then on, sports for the disabled evolved into competitive level when the first wheelchair games were held simultaneously with the 1948 Olympic games in London. Having shown to the world that competitive sports were not under the exclusive domain of the physically fit, various sports competitions for the disabled emerged and became a tradition internationally. The first Stoke Mandeville Games which subsequently developed into an international event contributed to the formation of the Paralympic movement known as the International Paralympic Committee. This committee, which is the counterpart of the International Olympic Committee which organized the World Olympics, serves as the governing body of all Regional or Continental Sports competitions for the disabled such as the Asean Para Games, FESPIC Games, and the Paralympics. The country’s local association known as the Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled (PHILSPADA), has been actively sending its own sporting delegations in all these international sporting events in order to represent the Philippines. The ASEAN’ Para Games is the equivalent of the SEA Games. The ASEAN Para Games is a biennial competition for athletes with a disability in the ASEAN region. The games are hosted by the same country where the SEA Games take place.
